Where did they say this? From the apple site:

Answer iPhone calls wirelessly with this compact and lightweight Bluetooth headset. The iPhone Bluetooth Headset features a single button that lets you receive phone calls simply and intuitively.

The iPhone doesn't have voice dialing, so I don't know how anyone could believe you could make calls from it in the first place.

Also from the Apple site (the store page for the headset):

"Enjoy wireless convenience and crystal-clear audio when talking on your iPhone. The iPhone Bluetooth Headset features a single button that lets you make and receive phone calls simply and intuitively. And the innovative design is sure to turn a few heads."

Interesting.

I wonder if now that they are shipping the bluetooth set.. we can look forward to a software update that will enable voice dialing???

what i dont understand is why cant apple make a bluetooth headset to use the phone and the ipod features. it seems pointless to have a separate headset for calls and headphones to listen to music.

Is that your site as well? I saw it in your signature, but noticed it was just removed.
No, but I help out w/ forum moderation over there.

Removed the sig when I saw it on my own post because the contest it linked to is over.

Sheesh. :)

I want it to do synth voice caller ID where if my iphone is in my pocket and the appletooth is in my ear it will say:

"John Smith is calling." or "800-555-1212 is calling"

so I don't have to pull out the iphone to see who it is before answering.

oooh that'd be a great feature!

It probably can make calls, just not on the iPhone. The headset is not limited to iPhone only.
Nice. :) I forgot that one of my prior phones would do BlueTooth voice dialing if the headset supported it. You'd press the button on the headset, wait for the beep, say the name, then the phone would confirm/dial it...

Who gives a ****? Sure they might have mis worded it, or meant that you can make calls with the button on phones that support it. But why are you getting so worked up over nothing?

Now turn off your PC and get back to what you teens usually do.

Wirelessly posted (LGE-VX9900/1.0 UP.Browser/6.2.3.2 (GUI) MMP/2.0)

apple says it can recieve calls... I didnt read it could send them

Some phones will also let you redial the last number called by pressing the button on the bluetooth headset twice (when the phone isn't in a call). That counts as making a call, no?

Fire up the class action lawsuit! i want in on some of this action. I smell blood!

dude that's an amazing feature! I hate having to reach for my iPhone everytime someone calls. If I could do that, that'd be great!

Dude, patent that quick!

Yeah they "misworded" it just like they "misworded" that you can browse the internet on the iPhone while on the phone... except that you can't unless you are a) on WiFi or b) in the probably 2% of the country that's on AT&T NOM-1 ... just another woopsie daisy slip up on Apple's part.

I got the idea from a friend.

He writes up at least 2 or 3 iphone features he wants a day..

I tell him to mail them to apple. I'll tell him you guys liked it!

But the text certainly would seem to imply that the feature works with the iPhone:

"Enjoy wireless convenience and crystal-clear audio when talking on your iPhone. The iPhone Bluetooth Headset features a single button that lets you make and receive phone calls simply and intuitively. And the innovative design is sure to turn a few heads."

Dude, technically firing up your iphone and clicking call on a contact while using the bluetooth headset is....wait for it.....

making a call.

In addition, as someone else pointed it out, it has the "last call dialed" option, as do many bluetooth headsets.

If Apple said "Make and receive calls without removing your iphone from your pocket" then you'd have a point.
