For me it appears to play same albums hi-res using Music app but sd res using Classical app.
I'm using Dragonfly as an external USB DAC with my iPhone. It colour encodes the bit rate when listening. How do you tell?
I wonder if it requires iOS 17.3 coming shortly as others have guessed?Apple Music Classical was updated today with CarPlay support, which will allow users to access the app from their vehicle's infotainment screen when an iPhone is connected. However, the app does not appear to be functional yet when opened.
Because Apple Music is a huge mess and has been for years. If these two apps are separate why does the music I select in the classical app show up as recently added section in the music app? And it doesn't show up in the classical app.

I don't get this. Why did it take so long?
I'm comparing the same album that says "hi-res lossless". On Apple Music the led is Magenta (96 kHz). The same album played thru Classical app and the light is Green (44.1kHz).How are you defining lossless? If the light is green (44.1 kHz) it could still be lossless delivering an uncompressed CD bitrate.
Apple has developed its own lossless audio compression technology called Apple Lossless Audio Codec (ALAC). In addition to AAC, the entire Apple Music catalog is now also encoded using ALAC in resolutions ranging from 16-bit/44.1 kHz (CD Quality) up to 24-bit/192 kHz.

We gotta give that intern some slack, he/she will also need some time to study in between.Apple can only afford to have 1 dev working on the entire Music / iTunes division
Crashes on wireless CarPlay in my vehicle. I'll restart my iPhone and see if that does the trick. (regular old Apple Music works fine as always on the phone and via CarPlay)Just tried it. The Apple Music Classical crashes in CarPlay (wired connection).
The app is also freezing on my iPhone even after restarting it. It is super buggy, showing some non-classical purchases and playlists from the Music app and also losing album art, song and artist info on the now playing screen.Crashes on wireless CarPlay in my vehicle. EDIT: restarting the phone (iPhone 15) (and the car) and it still crashes. Alerting Apple via Support
iOS 17.3 is out now. See if it works better with this Classical update. The app is also freezing on my iPhone even after restarting it. It is super buggy, showing some non-classical purchases and playlists from the Music app and also losing album art, song and artist info on the now playing screen.
I am just using the Classical app to find music, then I favorite it so I can play it from the Music app instead.
Ha well I have them bring the food to me curbside while I'm listening to Vivaldi. Now you can listen to Chopin while you're stuck in the drive-up at McDonalds.
So far so good with 17.3 but I haven't tried CarPlay again.iOS 17.3 is out now. See if it works better with this Classical update.
Two updates in one day, is that a record? They’ve just released an update for Apple Music Classical - Version 1.2.1. That should fix it!
Nope. Go back and read the article. I wish people would stop posting incorrect information based upon their wishes and hopes. They’ve just released an update for Apple Music Classical - Version 1.2.1. That should fix it!
I read that post as sarcasm, not wishes and hopes.Nope. Go back and read the article. I wish people would stop posting incorrect information based upon their wishes and hopes.
Because Apple Music is a huge mess and has been for years.
I have albums in my Recently Played list, where when I select them and click on Show Complete Album, Apple Music will actually take me to a completely different album. By the same artist, but still. It's totally messed up.
There's not enough separation between the apps. If I'm listening to pop / rock music on shuffle I don't want to hear a violin concerto.I have pretty much the same question...I listen to the "My Station" playlist often in Apple Music, and after listening to the Classical app a couple of times suddenly "My Station" is populated with a number of classical selections. Nothing against classical music, but I did not ask for this to happen.
