I made some changes on my Mac in Apple Music, I add and removed songs from a few playlists. and when I go to my iPhone they new songs added are not there. I checked all settings on all devices and they all have library sync on.

its not the first time I have issues with Apple Music not syncing.

Hey I’m having the same issue, it started last weekend, since then I’ve updated to the latest OS on my iPhone and my Mac so it’s hard to tell where the bug is coming from, I notice that when I make changes to playlists on my computer they don’t reflect on my phone when it used to happen immediately, when I change things on my phone they reflect on my Mac so it’s working one way but not the other

Hey I may have found a solution, I contacted Apple support, the had me start my Mac in safe mode which didn’t change anything, so then they had me reinstall Mac OS by starting the computer and holding command -R, after waiting for it to install I opened music and updated a playlist on my Mac and it worked on my phone just as it did before, hopefully this helps you

This has been an ongoing issue for me. Not usually with Playlists but I like to change the info of an album (usually the Genre and the Album Artist) so that it works for the way I use my library. And since you can't make these changes on an iOS device or the online version of Apple Music, I am stuck doing it on my iMac. The last time I spoke to an Apple Senior Tech this is apparently a known issue with Monterey but what's strange is it will work perfectly one day and then either a few hours later or the next day it is broken again. Every time there is an update (especially for macOS) I hope it will be resolved but nope - not yet.

I have contacted apple support and they seem to not be able to figure it out.
they just keep telling me to turn off sync and turn it back on, on all my devices.

I just did a reinstall of macOS Monterey this morning, it still didn't do anything.
to me it seems like something is stuck in my iCloud, like a song or something, that won't allow my devices to sync.

It worked for about a day and then it stopped working again, hopefully when they update the Os it will be solved, at least a few of us contacted them maybe they will be aware of it

Solution for me: in the Mac Music app, go to the Account tab, sign out, then sign back in.

I tried just about every other solution and then tried this while on the phone with a Senior Advisor from Apple and it worked. Note: don’t just sign out from the main preferences pane or turn off “Sync Library.” Those didn’t work. Going to that specific menu item and then logging back in worked. Syncing is happening as expected again.

Other things I tried first:

-cycle the “Sync Library” setting
-reinstall Monterey
-create a new user account
-recreate playlists

Hope this helps someone.

Nice to hear something is working, after the update it’s been working like it should but if I have problems again I’ll try this, thanks

This has been happening to me for the past week. Deleted songs return, songs added to playlists disappear, likes disappear, etc. Super frustrating.

It's a recent bug. I'm not yet sure whether the bug is in iOS or in macOS, since both have been updated recently and I can't remember exactly when I first noticed it. But it is definitely a bug.
Apple suggesting we start the Mac with Cmd-R and reinstall macOS is a sick joke. It's beyond me how anyone in their right mind could consider this a solution. Apple must think we're really stupid.

I have a call with a Senior Advisor today, so we'll see where that lands me. Pretty sure the bug is in macOS – changes I make on my phone tend to stick, but anything I do on my Macs tends to get reverted. Since you can't edit song metadata on iOS, it's been a pain, but we shall see!

Sadly, after only about 48 hours of having my sign out solution work, it's happening again. I agree this is a bug in macOS that Apple needs to acknowledge and fix immediately. Absurd to be having this core of a problem with their flagship digital product and the Mac.

Did you have any success with the Senior Advisor? When I spoke to mine a week ago we didn't really get anywhere. I am wanting to do whatever I can to get this noticed. It is clearly a bug and it's driving me nuts making me reconsider Apple Music altogether.

same exact things happen to me, its very frustrating, I have called apple numerous times, and they have no solution.
they just keep telling me to turn sync off and back on and they also keep asking me to make sure I am signed into the same Apple ID on all devices and that all devices are all up to date.

I was also reconsidering Apple Music, but it would be so much of a headache because I am on a family plan, and several people also use Apple Music.

I did notice something, if I turn off sync on my iPhone, shouldn't all the songs and playlists be removed from my iPhone? I noticed about 2gb of songs stay on my iPhone.

This is what really gets on my nerves. I understand bugs. I know that software is made by humans, and that the odd bug is inevitable. But treating us as if we were all imbeciles and suggesting all sorts of useless actions that they know have no effect at all, instead of just owning up to their mistakes, is really inexcusable.
Is it really so hard to say, "we're sorry, there seems to be a bug in the latest macOS release, we've notified the development team and they will fix it as soon as possible"? How hard can it be?

"Are you sure you're signed in to the same Apple IDs on all devices"?
Huh? Really? What can I say in reply to this?
"No, I'm using three different Apple IDs, because I'm stupid, and I enjoy calling the Apple support line for fun. Of course all my devices are using the same ID, otherwise I wouldn't expect them to be in sync, would I? What kind of moron do you think I am?":rolleyes:

all that frustrates me to the max when they think their consumers are stupid.
and what even further annoys me is when they transfer me to another advisor, I have to re-explain my issue all over again, and they do the same speech about turning sync on and off and confirming the same Apple ID and all software is up to date.

Same problem here, for some time now. I've found that Music will sync from iOS to MacOS reliably, but not vice versa. MacOS will sync new music and new playlists, but won't sync any other changes (moving or deleting playlists, song order, ratings, etc.). Those changes will revert back to the iOS version on the next sync. So if I want to make a change using my Mac, I have to make the change, then create a new playlist with those changes, then delete the old playlist using my phone. Bit of a pain to say the least.

Same problem here also. I installed the Mac 12.3.1 OS update and it worked after the restart but not after that. I have wasted so much time on this issue

They seem to have fixed it in 12.3.1. I removed some songs on macOS, and they were immediately removed from the phone. Then I changed the order of two songs in a playlist on the Mac, and it was immediately changed on the phone.

With 12.3.1, mine seems to be working again now as well. Hopefully it won't start misbehaving again.

My safari bookmarks still aren't syncing hough, which is another longstanding issue, though less of a pita.

For me it was the other way around. It didn't work in 12.3 and does work in 12.3.1.
I wonder if the bug isn't actually in macOS, but in iCloud. That would explain why there doesn't seem to be a direct link between the behaviour we're observing and the macOS versions we're running. Who knows what changes they're making to their cloud software, and when...
