What model iPhone do you have?

If you have an model with force touch (6S or higher) search your contact in spotlight, long press on the resulting name, tap on the contact name again it will open in the contacts app where you can edit it.

If you don't have an iPhone with force touch then spot light contacts.app, and search the persons name from there. Yeah, not as easy but it might be easier then searching through all your apps looking for Contacts.

Amazing. I never knew this. Though you should still be able to edit or at least open up the contact in the full translucent spotlight thingy. Are they called cards? I don't know. Anyway, you should be able to open up the editable contact from there. But this tip is super helpful. Thanks!

Maybe in smaller doses though. This is certainly the first short spurt I've heard criticizing Apple like that and comparing Tim versus Steve on NPR. Just need more critical mass.
To be fair, as far as design and all of that, it's quite likely Jobs knew of if not even had some input one way or another into what became the iOS 7 design and the macOS design.

Given OSX's steady improvement cycle w/o any unnecessary reinventions in the six years I used it from 2005 to 2011, I'd say very it's unlikely. Who will ever know. One thing I have definitely learned about life in general, using the iOS 7 mess as an example, is to exercise caution anytime you find yourself severely overthinking something or considering making a huge shift in a short period of time, as it's pretty easy to run into some self-contradictory and self-defeating predicaments.

Beginning with ios 10, the Contacts app can now be deleted. They had to make the spotlight search independent from the app as in case the main contacts app was deleted, it would break the spotlight search too. At least that's what i can infer.

I've reported this to Apple feedback recently. I agree there should at least be a way to easily jump to the contacts app from the spotlight results where the contact can be edited.

So looks like Apple's fixed this issue with iOS 11, as they slowly pull their head out of their rears in regards to many UIx design decisions made at apple after 2012.
