A few years ago these forums were full of people saying Samsung phones were awful because they were too big and phones needed to be used by one hand.

Now the iPhone is bigger than them all!

I've been using an SE for about 2.5 years and it's the perfect size. Was hoping they'd release a bezel-less version this fall, allowing them to increase the screen to 4.5-5", while still keeping it compact, but it seems like Apple doesn't want my money.

I'll be using my SE until it dies, or an updated version is released. If no update is released by the time it is no longer usable, I'll likely be going to Android if I need to get a bigger phone.
Not trying to be negative here, but does anyone make a new, small phone anymore in Android land either? You may be SOL.

And to that I say - finally. I would actually prefer an even bigger phone. Axe the iPad mini and bring me a 7"+ iPhone, with Pencil support, and I'll happily open my wallet.

The flip side to this problem is that you shouldn't be carrying phones in your pocket. There have been many documented studies proving that it's bad for you. More bad than most people realize. Unless you constantly turn on airplane mode, the antennas are in fact exposing you to constant radiation. What makes it particularly bad in that area is pretty obvious. The phone is inches away from your manhood. Or, literally on it, depending on... yeah.

I agree. I'm keeping my 5SE until it dies or I do.

I still have a 5s as a secondary phone. You know why I keep it? Because I bought the Yahtzee game Five Dice when the app store first opened and it won't play on 64-bit devices. True, story. :)

People don’t want small phones anymore. I’m the only person I know still rocking a 4” (the SE). Everyone I know has a 5+ inch android phone.

I'm curious. What kind of jeans (and which size?) lets you comfortably sit down with an 8+ in your pocket? None of mine are even close. And no, I don't wear skinny jeans and am not a dwarf either. ;)
Levis 505. 36" waist.

I talk my phone out of my pocket when I am sitting down, but I never had a problem with a plus fitting in any of my pants/shorts.

That's why I said if I need to get a bigger phone.

If Apple provides an SE replacement, I'll stay with them and continue to give them money through apps/services. Sticking with Apple would be the easiest and most convenient option for me. If, when the time comes where I need to replace my SE, there is no compact option from Apple and I am forced to buy a bigger phone, I am going to switch to Android. Been wanting to do it for a few generations now, but the 5S and then SE were great options and enough to keep me as a customer. Once I have to venture out into the big phone territory, there are a number of Android models I would rather go for than Apple.

I've had the opposite problem where the phone is too small. The old 6s plus I used to have fit snug in my polo shirt pockets but my iPhone X has slipped out and hit the floor a couple of times when bending over. Luckily, no damage. Looking forward to the XS Max!

Yeah they’ve lost me. My 128 GB 7 cost $750 new. I’m not interested in any phone that is either bigger or more expensive. Which, unfortunately, makes every new iPhone a nonstarter for me. I would’ve loved an edge to edge SE sized phone.

I feel the same. Not happy with the movement away from smaller phones. Have an iPhone 8 and that's the max size I would like for a phone. I also very much dislike Face ID. I still hope for the iPhone SE2 and Touch ID either behind the screen or on the back of the phone. Very unlikely to happen, but will only hope. Sad not to be upgrading as I enjoyed it every year and it's my birthday month so a gift to myself. Guess I will be sticking with the iPhone 8 for awhile.

The size could be a deal breaker for me. I've been carrying my phone in my back pocket for years and want to keep it that way. I have an iPhone 7 which seems to be about the max size for my pocket. Thoughts on the Xs fitting in a back pocket? I'm medium size if it means anything.
Here is a comparison for you ;)

So, I like phones that fit easily into my pockets, and also don't feel like a huge brick when exercising. I'm currently using an iPhone 8 which I find already borderline too big. And all of the new phones are now even bigger. For comparison:

iPhone 8: 5.45 x 2.65 inches
iPhone Xs: 5.65 x 2.79 inches
iPhone Xr: 5.94 x 2.98 inches

I don't like this trend at all. Some of the features of the new phones (particularly dual-SIM) would be highly useful for me, but I can't get them without carrying around a phablet. :( Am I the only one left who prefers more compact phones?

PS: When they claimed that the Xs Max is "cinematic" and showed a scene from Jurassic World on the screen I really had to laugh. In what world is a phone screen "cinematic"?

cant use plus sizes iphones as phones, iphone 8 size is okay for me.
