Yes, but you can't always take your apple to any dealer. For example: you can't take your MPB to PC World unless you bought it there.

Ok, but if they're an aurthorised servicer then you can.

I wouldn't take my laptop to PC World anyway. They have a horrible reputation for doing more harm than good. If you have to go there, make sure you back everything up first. Don't count on the stuff you have on it still being on there when you get it back, even if it goes in for something minor.

Maybe I misunderstood everything. What stores can you turn it in to? Does it have to be one of those flashy Apple Stores, or can it be an "Apple Center" or an "Authorized Service Provider"?

Otherwise, ThinkPad + BSD, here I come! :(

here they have the store/ the authorised dealers / and service center
so the service center only services u cant buyanything there !!
and since i have converted to mac (thank god) i located em around big cities
i travel around to in case something screws up .. and i was surprised to find
a lot of apple outlets around ... so i kinda find weird to know that out in the western world .. there would be a dearth of apple stores/svc center etc !

Hey guys,
just a little heads up to the situation over here in Germany:

As my MacBook suffered from RSS as well, I called the Tech Support and a very informed guy told me that they put the pick up service on ice because of the RSS situation. The shipping department just couldn't keep up with all the MacBooks, so they WILL bring this service back as soon as possible, but I guess there are a lot of MacBooks to fix yet.

My dealer ordered the heatsink last Friday, received it at 10AM on Monday and I brought him my MacBook at 2PM. Came back at 6PM and was fixed already, not shutting down anymore.

Of course I understand that it's very annoying when you haven't a service provider in the city.

I don't know if I'm appalled or amused. (about the high number of Macbook's suffering from RSS)
