Apple October Event coming?!?

Is there precedent for an October event?

A lot of rumors seem to be flying around...

• 11" MacBook
• MBA way overdue for an i3 update
• 7" iPads
• A post-September iPhone antenna fix suggest by Steve at the Antennagate Bumper special media event
• iLife 11 appearing and then disappearing at Amazon

Anybody think that we're about to get yet another event? It just seems so unlikely given that we just had one on September 1st, but if there is any truth to the rumor that Apple plans to sell a boat-load of 11" laptops in 2010, then it does seem possible that El Jobso will be sending out invites any day.

Antenna fix? LOLz. There will be a new iphone in June 2011. Nothing will change until then.

There will be no 7" iPad. Doesn't fit in their lineup with a iPod touch topping out at $399 and the ipad starting at $499.

MBA will get a stealth upgrade soon.

Why would Apple make an 11" MacBook? Not like people aren't buying Macs in record numbers. Too much of a niche product and Apple doesn't really do niches. [/Tallest Skil]

Unless there will be new iPads or something else revolutionary, there is no need to hold an event. All Macs other than MBA have been updated quite recently and I wouldn't expect a Mac update before 2011, that should also bring Sandy Bridge CPUs to Macs.

Apple could have a huge event in early 2011 where most Macs would be updated with Sandy Bridge along with iLife '11 and iWork '11, maybe even new iPads etc.

1) Why an 11" MB?
2) Pointless, the 9400M is about as good as current iX IGP
3) No price point
4) The iPhone 4 is the fastest selling phone in history
5) IMO iLife '11 is coming out next year along the Sandy Bridge Mac refresh

IMO OS X 10.7 is coming in March 2011, why do I think this? The tenth anniversary of OS X for real (Cheetah came out on the 24th)

There was no event last year but Apple updated iMac and Mini in October IIRC

I have heard about antenna problems.... in and around the forums. But I don't actually know anyone who has an iPhone, so I can't really comment.

+1 I don't know a single person with this problem and i have over 20 people I know with iPhone 4's. (They all are graciously testing an app for me )

Honestly, I think its ATT's network for most of the people complaining about dropped calls. You don't hear anyone in other countries talk about it. Not to mention a friend of mine from the Balkans bought an iPhone 4 from a guy (In the US) who claimed it dropped calls all the time. He has zero problems with it in his country and no dropped calls. This makes me think more and more its ATTs network.

All they have to do is speed bump (CPU and hard drive). The MBA is well overdue for something.

10.7 won't be released until we've went through at least one WWDC event where it's previewed. They didn't even do a "Core OS" keynote at WWDC this year.

According to Jobs, 0.55% of all iPhone 4 users have called Apple Care to complain. Yes, one half of one percent.

What about AT&T return rates? If people are having a major problem with the antenna, they’re going to return it right? Well, they’re not. The iPhone 3GS had a return rate early on of 6% — which Apple was very happy with. With the iPhone 4, that return rate is 1.7%. The return rate is one-third of what it was for the iPhone 3GS.

Finally, Jobs mentioned the drop call rate. In this case, Jobs admitted it was higher than with the iPhone 3GS. How much higher? According to AT&T, the iPhone 4 is dropping less than one more call per 100 calls when compared to the iPhone 3GS.

I'll take the return rate data, plus the Apple Care complaint data over four YouTube videos any day.

"Antennagate", yet the phone is selling like hotcakes and hardly anyone is actually complaining. Apple can barely keep up with demand.

Antennagate my ass. It was all a pile of FUD spun by the media and astroturfers around the web in order deflate Apple's impending success with their best iPhone yet. A few complaints were built up into Antennagate. It was all baloney. And it failed.

Whatever happened to "antennagate", yg? It's coming to nothing, and that's due to the fact that . . . guess what, there was little to nothing there to begin with. Where are the massive returns? Where's the colossal drop in demand?

This isn't Vista, where another lousy, ****** MS product was by default on all PCs sold everywhere and consumers had little choice in the matter. In fact, they did have a choice: there was an outcry and a frenzied attempt, almost en masse, to downgrade to XP.

iPhone 4 demand continues to increase unabated. Apple can barely keep up with demand. Meanwhile Google and partners HTC, Motorola and others need to churn out an ocean of devices at different prince points with different feature sets, and otherwise combat Apple's ONE (at most two) phones using a fragmentary strategy because they lack the vision, commitment, and sheer talent to produce ONE single iPhone-killer. Might as well flood the market and hope whatever you throw at the wall sticks.

Well that and Google's partners were smart enough to go with multiple-providers including Verizon. It's time for Apple to follow suit in the USA as they have abroad.

But yeah, if you don't think that antennagate hurt iPhone sales, I'd ask you to think again.

Apple isn't about volume but control. With AT&T they are in the driving seat with terms of controlling iPhone. AT&T is apple's lapdog, they know it, apple knows it and they take advantage of it. If apple goes with VZW, apple will lose a level of control, especially given how popular android phones are selling with verizon. They (VZW) don't have to kowtow to apple's demands and wishes because of this.
