Really love my new 10.5 pro, I was wondering if anyone knows apples policy on switching from a 64gb to a 256gb. Got it online from Apple in the UK.

You can order the one you want, or buy in store and send this one back - don't really even need to give a reason within the 14 day return period.

Indeed, Apple are more than happy to take more of your coin. :p That is why I opted to get the 256gb this time.
For the first time in a long time, I'm tempted to get a new iPad. My Mini (2nd generation) is showing its age. Yet as I contemplate 64GB vs. 256, I see almost not reason to get the larger one given my usage habits.

Within the return window you just return the existing one and purchase the higher capacity one at the correct price. Although back when I bought my 1st Gen 32GB iPad mini it became faulty and Apple swapped it for the 64GB FoC as there wasn't a 32GB to replace it with.

I was initially veering toward 64gb myself being that I constantly swap movies on my iPhone, but I returned the first 12.9" I had on the same day because I realized the storage wasn't enough for me, so rather than do that this time, I opted to pay the extra $100.

If your usage does not require the extra storage, completely makes sense. I appreciate that Apple doubled the base storage for these. Yes, after the 9.7 iPP did not meet my desires or need, I thought I was pretty much done with iPads; but I am loving this new gen 12.9".

I have done this.

You can swap in store, but essentially it's a full refund and a full purchase. They won't be able to swap it for you and just charge the difference.

They can, however, return it to a gift card, and then use that gift card for the new one, if you don't want to float an extra iPad charge. Not a big deal on credit cards, obviously.

Well I was "told" they cannot do it for online orders, as they are processed separately blah blah blah. Not sure how much of that was true thought, might be that it was the easiest way for the so called Genius!

They swap. I ordered my wife a 64GB and she's decided she wanted 256. I walked in, told them I wanted to exchange for a 256. They had stock, so I swapped and paid difference. No hassle at all.

None of that is true. Idk where you were that they told you that?

If i'm totally honesty I've been contemplating the same. My usage habits really don't warrant 256GB, but If I hold onto it a while I may end up regretting getting the 64GB...

I'm kind of thinking of the 64GB doesn't fit my needs, I'll give it to my wife and then get the larger one. Movies is the only thing that I can see why > 64GB may make sense.

If you ordered from Apple.com, this is just not true at all. You should be able to do a simple exchange at an Apple Store.
Third party sellers are a different story, though.

To be fair, I've been told you have to process the exchange/return through apple.com online before too.....

Doubt they swap. You could return it and order a 256gb instead. Think that is the only solution.

They will swap no problem within the 14 day window or 30 in other retailers that offer 30 days ( Bestbuy elite members to name one). I've done this at bestbuy and at the Apple store a few times in matters of days and never had any issues. Even more the Apple employee actually let me keep the charging brick and I didn't ask. They will charge you the difference or refund you the difference if you go larger or lower or add or remove LTE.

Eh I would get the 256 because for $100 more you get the insurance of not filling up your device. 512 while I could fill it but would just be movies which I'm fine deleting on my 256 one.

I bought my iPad Air 2 online and decided I wanted LTE. Went to the store when I got it and exchanged it no issue..
