Please let's try to avoid name-calling and other insults, thanks. I'd rather not close the thread.

Look, lots of online video uses flash. The iPhone is an arm CPU that doesn't have a flash port. One day perhaps. We knew this from day one.

As for video on the iPhone otherwise, it has youtube which is both free and open - anyone can post video.

Secondly I have video on my iPhone that I ripped from one of my DVDs.

So I have 2 free video sources. And iTunes of course.

Compare to ... Vcast? Get real.

Quit your QQing.

My phone can run iphone, play movies from DVD's and run Sprint tv. And quite a few Verizon phones can do the same =P

btw does youtube on iphone use m.youtube? wasn't sure

Early adopters pay the price.
Late adopters get the good deal.
Non adopters get left behind.

While our friend is waiting for the "real thing" (The Razr 4?)
I'll be enjoying my iphone.

Bought it retail, no line at 10:30 pm Friday night at Apple Northridge.
In and out in minutes, Set-up at home took less than 5 minutes.
And it is in a category all by itself. A piece of magic.

"hi everyone, I just paid 600 bucks without even reading about the capabilities of the phone. Now I am mad...."

-MaxPowers

dude, they said from day 1 that flash would not be supported at this time....

your fault for hoping on the bandwagon without reading the facts.

you're fighting the wrong battle. you should be asking Adobe for the Flash plugin for ARM processors and ask Microsoft for the Windows Media plugin for ARM processors. it's not Apple's fault if the vendors can't supply them with the software necessary for playing the formats.

Calling tech support to complain about features of the iPhone isn't going to get you anywhere. What you need to do is send a respectful email or letter to Apple and let them know you're unsatisfied.

Tech support is to help you if you have real problems, not to complain that the product isn't what you want.

Do you want the tech to just start coding you a little Safari update and send it to you while you're on the phone? I'm sure he has access to iPhone engineers in Cupertino. Hell, he probably is one - the telephone tech support gig is just a side job he does when he gets bored working on OSX.

I spent $400 on a Sony Ericcson before buying the iPhone that couldn't do this either, but I didn't call them and expect them to change the browser for me. The iPhone OS doesn't revolve around you, especially with your seemingly horrid attitude. No wonder you're getting hung up on.

The techs DO NOT know what new features or upgrades are coming to the phone. If you want to piss off a perfectly helpless person and waste countless hours of your time, keep calling though. Maybe you'll get Steve Jobs eventually...he'll probably get bored soon and start answering iPhone tech support calls too.

I think flash ability would be something good to have on the iphone. In terms of things that would make Safari on the iPhone better, that would likely be near the top of my list.

As I mentioned earlier though, Max is approaching this all wrong. This is the kind of thing you post in a "What do I want my iPhone to do in the future" thread.

Not something you badger a customer service or even technical support department. Technical support does not design or manage updates for the iPhone.

And I don't really have a problem with calling them up, asking them about this issue, and requesting it as something you would want. Most companies do track that information and use it when making decisions in the future. But calling them back over and over again makes no sense. I don't know how they could hang up on you as that conversation could not possibly lasted very long.

Ahaha, it's cute how you think this isn't the norm and that you could get answers from the support line. Face it, it is a PHONE, not only that, but one that is owned by Apple, who, historically, is VERY nice to there partners. Just be happy and hope for an update.

If you would look at the mounted RAM disk, it is OS X, just because it doesn't run Pages, doesn't say otherwise. It is on a different processor which means intel/ppc apps won't work and rosetta would kill the iPhone. It uses the same frameworks, file formats, File system, crash log, file hierarchy, unix binaries, commands and more but just because it doesn't look like OSX, it isn't. Learn what OSX is and then try to downplay it.

Because the browser is missing a third party plug in doesn't mean it isn't Safari. It uses WebKit which is the basis of Safari so, for all intensive purposes, it IS Safari, just in a different form. Once again, learn what Safari is and then tell me it isn't.

LOL. FANBOY! :p

LOL. FANBOY! :p

People that speak the honest truth aren't fanboys. People that refuse to acknowledge the truth are.

Safari without Flash plugin is still Safari. Mac OS on ARM is still Mac OS.

I'll admit that it's a bit misleading saying that the iPhone runs Mac OS, since all the benefits of running Mac OS are pretty much missing. However, saying it runs Safari is entirely valid. It runs a great version of Safari that other than missing some plugins and handling some Javascript functions strangely is the best mobile browser ever.

I think I figured out his underlying issue, NO PORN ON YOUTUBE< so he is stuck with just still pics of porn, no movies....he is not whining, he just has a case of blue-----

From what I can see, it looks more like MacOS without Finder. The underlying frameworks are there, but the UI has been replaced.

Fanboy #2. Its like saying windows mobile is windows vista. Grow up.

Mac OS with a completely different set of widgets and UI... so really the only similarities are in design and kernel.

It's like comparing running Linux/Gnome with Linux/GPE, only GPE is closer even since it uses the same toolkit for widgets :p

Calling people names and telling them to grow up is not the way to make friends and influence people. Let's send this thread to bed without any dinner, shall we?

Thanks.
