Tomorrow a new iPhone if I didn’t knew better I would download this lol no crashing devices over here
Consider that they didn't have to do the testing on all those devices, and that may be the difference between getting updates for old stuff or not.Though it would be nice if they were offered to all devices running 15, not just the ones that aren't allowed to update to 16.
Not sure about that. We should get a new build of 12.7 tomorrow after the Apple Event alongside all the other updates, all of which should patch this exploit if the current builds don't already.View attachment 2258620
Running 12.7 (21G813) since Aug 31 as a customer seed. Not sure if I'm safe. Official build for 12.6.9 is 21G726.
im risking it for the biscuit on my 8+ on 15.7.2. I have images disabled on mail and i barely use it to browse the web except for business websites. Have to decide what to do with my ipad thoughUnfortunately, you can only install updates to 15.7.x to older devices that can't be upgraded to iOS 16. They removed all the newer devices from support for iOS 15.7.x. I'm running 15.7.2 on my iPhone SE 3 and can't upgrade to anything less than 16.6.1.
I'm taking my chances for now on 15.7.2 and trusting that I won't go to a site that pwns my iPhone. 16.x is a hot mess of garbage from what I'm hearing and so I'm avoiding it.
If their still pushing out security updates for Big Sur then Monterey has at least another year. For Big Sur, probably. As well as for iOS 14.
For Monterey and iOS 15 I expect one more year of security updates.
Or get the full installers automatically built for you by running the following Terminal commands without the quotes:
Big Sur: "softwareupdate --fetch-full-installer --full-installer-version 11.7.10"
Monterey: "softwareupdate --fetch-full-installer --full-installer-version 12.6.9"
After that report on macrumors , the 13.6 that I put into my Ventura beta VM was a Beta 2, not an RC. And over at mrmacintosh dot com, Beta 2 is how it is listed. But Ventura 13.6 is still in Schrodinger's Release Candidate box.
no need to wonder: it would be x.10I wonder what version number they will go to if there is another critical security update they feel the need to patch
No, only iOS 16 can be selected.I know that people who have iPhones that can iOS 15 but cannot run iOS 16, can update to iOS 15.7.9 if they want. However, I'm curious: for people who have iPhones that can run iOS 16 but are still running an older version of iOS 15, can they update to iOS 15.7.9?
Nope. After 15.7.2, they removed support for all new devices and only support devices that can't run iOS 16.I know that people who have iPhones that can run iOS 15 but cannot run iOS 16, can update to iOS 15.7.9 if they want. It's allowed since iOS 14. It actually shows the option to update your 15 first and "Update to iOS 16" is on the bottom as "Also available".
I missed 15.7.3 on my iPhone SE 3 and iPad Pro (M1) and am stuck on 15.7.2 as well. Really disappointed with Apple for originally offering to let us stay with 15.7.x but then yanking the carpet.Unfortunately not. I have the last iPad Air that had the Lightning port. It's used almost exclusively for watching tv content purchased on iTunes. The TV app on 16 is substantially worse, so I never installed it on that iPad.
It's on 15.7.2 because I didn't get 15.7.3 installed in time before they cut off all 15.x updates to that iPad. I am now offered only 16.6.1.

No choice but to use the newer versions. Can the 2019 iPhone 11 Pro Max use iOS 15.7.9 or I have no choice but iOS 16.6.1 or iOS 17?
Yeap, there's a newer build of 12.7 as I checked this morning. Not sure about that. We should get a new build of 12.7 tomorrow after the Apple Event alongside all the other updates, all of which should patch this exploit if the current builds don't already.
I stopped using my 11 Pro Max in Jan 2022 so it was on iOS 15.x.No choice but to use the newer versions.
Still no, the only update to 15 they made available for that model post 16 was 15.7.1. They haven't built an update image of 15.7.9 for phones that can run 16.I stopped using my 11 Pro Max in Jan 2022 so it was on iOS 15.x.
Is it possible to upgrade it from iOS 15.x to iOS 15.7.9?
