We'll also put you in the "didn't read any of the dozens of posts that already noted you can use an adapter with your existing headphones" camp.

But... you already have a Shuffle in your car, so you don't need one of the new ones, do you?

That's true. So, as long as I never want an up-to-date iPod Shuffle with the most storage, I'm good.

"Oh, this Wii is an awesome game...WHAT? I CAN ONLY USE NINTENDO'S CONTROLLERS? WHAT A RIP!!!"

hey dummy, if i already had a household full of Wii controllers BEFORE the Wii came out then i would be rightly pissed off. LOL, what a dummy you are. terrible comparison.

i rarely comment on apple's behavior, but they have gone to far this time. this headphone thing is completely ridiculous.

I'll have to pick up a spare 2nd generation

I keep a shuffle in my car to listen to music when nothing good on radio. Use an adapter on for the radio not headphones. Not sure why it needed to be smaller.

you people realize if Steve went on stage and talked about how it is so much cooler having the buttons on the headphones...everyone would go...ahh..now I see it..you are so right...what was I thinking....buttons on the actual device? pffff
I think most like the concept of buttons on the headphones/earphones.

The part they don't like is that you are locked into Apples earphones which leave a lot to be desired for many individuals.

OMG! It doesn't have Firewire either!! Damn Apple and their new products not supporting every previous use of previous products.

Sweat+ipod=broke

I have damaged two ipod shuffles by just exposing them to all the sweat I generate on the treadmill. I can't recommend the shuffle for the gym if you perspire a lot

Is anyone else suffering from the "I really want to like this, but I don't think I do" syndrome?

I'm not even underwhelmed or disappointed, it just feels, so... Samsung or SanDisk.

I was wowwed at first, but after reading over it the 3G is a step back from even the first gen Shuffles for me. I'm trying to like it but I'm just going to buy another 2G instead and seal it away for when my current 2G should die . Or hopefully Apple 'forward' tracks like they did with the 3G iPod Nano to make it pretty again.

Hey, are you the same people who all yelled "EPIC FAIL" a few years ago when Apple released an MP3 player that didn't have a display on it!!!! ?

Yes, what a marketing flop that iPod Shuffle thing was.

THERE ARE ALREADY 3RD PARTY HEADPHONES AVAILABLE. Plus the In-Ear that Apple Sales. It is clear that eventually ALL iPods will be able to use these features.

It's not ridiculous at all. It's Innovative and Different. If you want a copy cat clone, GO BUY A ZUNE. Thank God Apple doesn't listen to you.

Ok, go buy one and wait until you need new headphones. I don't know about you, but I wouldn't want to shell out $30 for new headphones.

I agree with everything that's been said, but had two novel thoughts:

They got rid of Product Red.

The iPod shuffle is not the first to talk. I had a 2G iPod nano that with nike plus talked to me in a very sultry voice and even spoke live with real data rather than just pre-recorded bits.

These thoughts may have been parroted by now, I wrote this this morning and just realized I never hit submit to my comment.

1. For those who don't like this aggressive new design, the old Shuffle is still available. Problem solved.

2. For those whom the Apple earbuds always fall out, I would recommend trying some foam covers. The Apple earbuds fall out of my ears too, but don't with foam covers.

I really like this new Shuffle, if only for the capability to switch between playlists. I understand that some people would prefer to use their own headphones, but the Shuffle has basically become an almost 'throwaway' type device due to the price point. 99% of the people just use the Apple buds, and by shrinking things down further Apple was able to fit in 4GB AND VoiceOver into the $79 price point. It's not easy to create something unique in this product segment, and that is exactly what Apple has done. Unique can be good or bad, but in this case I believe it is largely good.

What are you talking about, iPods haven't had firewire for a year or so now, USB 2.0 is almost just as fast.

APPLE has NEVER said that they are not going to allow third party headphones to work. READ THE PRESS RELEASE. They said the exact OPPOSITE.

Oh my head hurts.

No, this product isn't for me, as I do use quality earphones. That doesn't mean it's a bad product, but some people can't seem to see the difference. Remember that in the corporate world, good product = one that sells, bad product = one that doesn't. And I predict that like all the previous Shuffles, this will sell.

Wouldn't it affect every iPod? I bet sweat can't be good for a Nano either. You need a little case to put it in.

I know, right? Everytime I go swimming with my Nano I have to buy a knew one.

Who Knew? Electronics and Sweat Don't Mix.

Just out of curiosity since I've not used these remote headphones before...

Are they touch sensitive? Like if I'm out running and I try to find the remote unit to skip track, if I accidentally stroke past the volume button it's not going to change volume?
Used to have that problem with the 3G iPod. An accidental touch here or there and you've skipped a song or stopped it entirely.

I like these new shuffles, will try and pop by the store today and see them in person. If my nano dies that I use for running one day i might get one of these instead
