Hello All!

As of today, Apple has informed us (Typing Genius) that they are now removing any trace of emoji from the App Store. This means:
- All new apps related to emoji will be rejected in the review process
- Existing apps that do not provide additional functionality will be pulled from the App Store (e.g. Emotifun, iEmoji pulled already)
- Existing apps that DO provide additional functionality (e.g. Typing Genius) will be required to provide an update to Apple immediately

For all iPhone/iPod Touch fans, this is the last chance to can get emoji enabled on their devices - only a few days remain! Typing Genius has been very successful in the past weeks, reaching #8 at its peak on the Top 100 chart, providing tens of thousands of users with fun emoticons. To date, it still provides the most easy and reliable unlock that works across all OS versions. Its success is shown in our hundreds of 5-star reviews on the App Store. I have attached a few screenshots of those reviews which I personally find quite amusing and entertaining. It only goes to show just how much fun one can have with emojis!

We would also like to inform you all that:
- Existing Typing Genius users who have already unlocked emoji will not be affected when Apple remove apps from the App Store
- Emoji unlock will remain intact for users who upgrade to a newer version of Typing Genius (without the unlock) later on

We do not know how long Apple will take to accept our update, but unfortunately emojis will be inaccessible in the very near future. Emoji fans should hurry before it's too late!

I really don't understand why Apple hates those little things so much.

What's the problem?

EDIT: Let me say, I can understand why Apple wouldn't want them there as a default. But the current setup meant you had to go well out of your way to get them (downloading a program instead of just flipping a settings switch). I thought that was a good compromise.

But apparently not.

I've been using this for a while, and it's really a lot of fun. I'm sick of Apple telling me what I can have and what I can't have. It's already built in the god damn devices and the app enables what's ALREADY there. Now they get banned why :(

Does the Apple one work the same way as Spell # on the keyboard?

To be honest I never really liked emoticons that much with exception to the standard smiley faces, I just don't like finishing words with pictures. I also don't see why apple has got their panties tied in a not over a program that adds more to there already existing emoticons

The reason why apple hates this is because it's something that customer's like..

Using Spellnumber worked for me.

I don't think (hope) the next iPhone update will lose the emoji once it's been activated because from what I understand if you had done this prior to installing 2.2.1 it still existed on your iPhone afterwards. Personally I like having these because I use them much the same way the Japanese do anyway (not just for the sake of having emoticons in a message that is).

Apple =) <--- this is a smile, look is formed with only ascii characters ahah :p :p :p

(Would be hilarious if Apple removed all non-alphabet characters from the system pagecode)

Do you think Apple says let's piss off the community. Obviously not it's either licensing issues (my guess) or has to do with AT&T having a hissy fit thinking it'll cause support issues when people say yea I sent an email to my mom and she can't read my love emojis I demand to speak to a supervisor at once gosh dang it!

btw spell number worked on mine, my wife's, my sisters, my brother-in-laws, my other brother-in-laws and my brothers idevices just fine so don't see what's the point in wasting a buck.

Umm... anyone can see those little emoji icons whether they can send them or not. The emoji enablers simply allow you to send them.

So far, with my experience, only other iPhone users can see them. Blackberries, Windows Mobile devices, and non-smartphone devices only see a little square.

That's what I meant. I guess I'm lucky and almost all of my friends have iPhones.
