I would be wary of what of 'an inside source at Simply Mac' said regarding what Apple was doing given all the shady stuff Simply Mac supposedly was doing. Looking up reviews I found these at trustpilot (74% bad rating):

'I placed an order for an item that was supposedly in stock. After I reached out for a status update, they said we are "unable to ship inventory at this time due to a huge processing error at the warehouse. Nor do we have guaranteed shipment dates for your order."'

Now step back and look at what that is saying — Simply Mac was claiming the product was already in stock and only after the customer did a follow up did they get some song and dance about some "huge processing error at the warehouse". More over they asked "why cant I cancel the order online? What year is it that you're making people email you to cancel an order?"

Another reviewer stated that when they contacted Simply Mac they were told the computer they ordered was "on stock" "but don't have any idea when the order will be shipped". ie in both cases Apple had supposedly already shipped the product to Simply Mac.

Yet another reviewer stated "When you ask Simply Mac to cancel the order, they tell you that a restocking fee will be incur" ...even if Simply Mac didn't have the item to restock.

Over on Appleinsider, dybarra1317 said this: "Their lack of inventory is because their department that handled orders and preorders didn't submit for any inventory for over six months and upper management missed it. The store here had over 25k stolen from a third party fed ex delivery service, and her manager at the time ignored it and fudged inventory stock to make him look good so he could get district manager"

Heck, "Citing funding issues, Voigt said that Simply Mac is unable to adequately stock its shelves with products" does not translate into 'Apple refused to send us product'.

IMHO this is simply somebody at Simply Mac trying to put the blame on Apple.
It seems Simply Mac is a fraud and customers are victims too.

I have the same problem. I ordered and paid for a computer in March and it was never delivered. According to an inside source at Simple Mac, a major reason for bankruptcy is that Apple refused to fill orders. I also filed a complaint with the FTC on Apple computers for not filling the order through their authorized dealer. I also called Apple computers. They are concerned because when the public finds out that Apple did not fill orders of loyal Apple customers, it will cause a major public relations problem. Please call apple orders and tell them you expect Apple to honor the order you placed through a trusted authorized dealer. It is time to shout what Apple did to Simple Mac and their customers from the housetops!!
Really. Simply Mac didn't pay Apple for their repairs and new Macs. Apple cut Simply Macs off and FBI/Secret Service needs to investigate the company's book.

Actually if the bankruptcy court is doing its job investigating Simply Mac's books should be among the things the trustee does. More over why would the Secret Service be investigating anything? FBI does make sense but there are also issues that seem to fall under the domain of the FTC, IRS, and SEC (Cool Holdings, renamed Simply Inc, is a publicly traded company).

Secret Services do money investigations, especially counterfeit money.
and Credit Card fraud.

Huh, didn't know the Secret Service investigated Credit Card fraud as what I have seen shows that as the FTC's or DOJ's (who the bankrupsy trustee is supposed to working for) job.

If there were irregularities Simply Mac could be looking at a host of government agencies who want a piece of them.

US Law enforcement is so fragmented that USPS has its own police.

I should have known when they charged my CC up front for a back order. Every other legit business charges when they ship. SMH I wonder if I can make a CC purchase protection claim w/ Amex?

So I worked here in 2014-2016… Game Stop sunk millions into it and expanded to fast. The place was horribly miss managed, we had device serial numbers that didn’t match and small IT issues that support would never fix to the point where the store manager just stuck them on a shelf in the back, extremely low starting wage similar to fast food/bestbuy/autoparts store ext had constantly crazy weird marketing campaigns and sayings. Middle management walked out without warning on several occasions. Two events that come to mind are when they started selling their own protection plan on iPads that covered accidental damage but then Apple got mad we weren’t selling enough Applecare so we had a half off Applecare sale and sold it at a $10 loss to make the quarterly quota (stupid) and another was them buying PeachMac then shuttering less than 2 years later because Florida didn’t allow us to sell our previously mentioned protection plan… they even closed the locations in Georgia…
Glad PeachMac is still around... oh, wait, they got bought by SimplyMac. sadtrombone.com
Yup real unfortunate they bought 3-4 3rd party Apple store chains that are now nolonger around
In this case it wasn't apples fault
You would be surprised, they had to get creative on other ways to make money because retail margins of 1st party Apple
PRoducts are so low.
You're lucky. I've been to 3 different ones, 2 in North Carolina and 1 in Tennessee and all 3 were abysmal. No one acknowledged me in any of them, and I was the only customer in the store...which I felt was self-explanatory!
Weird, they were better when I worked there.
Ouch, that’s one of our local AASPs. Fortunately we still have Best Buy and another local. I’ll bet a few repairs will be stuck in limbo though 😬
Do you self a favor and avoid BestBuy, just drive to an Apple Store even if it’s an hour away.
they also face online competition which grew during govt shut downs. Lots of trouble for brick and mortar.
Bring and mortar is still needed for repair/support.
Well if you knew the margins Apple gives you.... at least here in Italy, it's hard to make a living with the % they offer to resellers.
This… on a $500 iPad we made $45, for facilitating a warranty repair on a phone we made $15-25…
Another causality of the APPLE SILICON TRANSITION.

APPLE owns everything now. Hardware All repairs.

NEXT. OWC. other world computing.
Apple silicon has nothing to do with it, their margins have always been crap for 3rd partys.

Is there a Best Buy? They’re trained [as well as] geniuses are in the apple stores.
No they heck they are not lol
What kind of profit margin do you think resellers make on mac products? Why wouldn't apple just make every buy from them and keep profits even higher?
It’s like 10%, Apple makes a ton but their products are in such high demand they can charge that.

They have some math worked out because they still sell a lot at Best Buy and obviously phones through the phone carriers.

But they did nothing to stop it from happening.

I worked for an Apple Dealer in college, and the games Apple started playing with that company were ridiculous. Delaying parts shipments, delaying reimbursement for warranty repairs, requiring the purchase of 'parts kits' that had to be used in their entirety, even if none of the other parts needed to be replaced. It was kind of interesting and shocking to see the games. Sure, sometimes it worked out, but often customers were left waiting for another parts kit because that dealer had 'used their allotment for the month, and had to wait to be able to order another kit until the next month and then wait for it to be shipped. Yeah, weird paranoid games... It's gotten better, and worse since.

It was still in the days of the II+ and iie, and the easiest thing was for users to connect the floppy drive cables incorrectly. The largest symptom was a cap exploding. Apple's rule was the board had to be swapped, but all it was was that cap. Waiting for boards got to be such an inconvenience, they started recapping the blown boards themselves resulting in a turnaround time of days opposed to weeks/months.

I worked for another company that did warranty work for Compaq and a few other companies, and limits on spares kits weren't a thing at all. You needed 10 boards, you got 10 boards. The differences were striking...
