Unfortunately that sounds all too familiar. Like I said before, I got mine back with an overtightened screw, which cracked the case, a screwed up track pad button after the top case was replaced (only half of it worked), and plenty of nasty scratches and dirt. I know I was very unhappy with the service received, and I let apple know about it. I suggest you do the same, they should be able to help you in getting the problem corrected.
Well, I hope they do something. I'm just in total disbelief that they actually replaced all of the outer casing (except the battery) and managed to scratch it up again! Thats unacceptable.
The system really is in worse shape than when it went out. It went out with two major problems (the spacebar squeaky after awhile of use wasn't that big of an issue). The "SuperDrive" not being able to burn DVDs properly and the discoloration.
It came back with the discoloration gone. But scratched to all ****, the mouse button basically broken, the DVD drive untouched.
Second time it came back with slightly less scratches. New case, but new scratches. Mouse button still broken. DVD drive making worse grinding sounds.
As I said in my email to
sjobs@apple.com, I bought a Mac so I wouldn't have to deal with this kind of nonsense any more. At this point its gotten to be just as bad as when I had to deal with HP because of a faulty motherboard. I had to send that system in 3 times (but at least they replaced the DVD drive when there was nothing even wrong with it!) before they finally replaced it.
The person I'm dealing with at Apple now wants pictures of the scratches. My camera's batteries died while I was trying to take pictures and I haven't gone to get new ones yet. I've been busy doing yard work. I'm only taking a break now because I don't feel like taking the risk of getting struck by lightning
When I email her back though... I'm going to tell her its time to start talking replacement and not repair. Flextronics damaged the system twice. They damaged their own repair work! And they have failed to repair what needed repaired, as well as botching another repair that they performed. Even if it does go out for repair one more time, it will definitely reach the "reasonable amount of tries" for a repair under California's consumer protection laws and it'll be time for a replacement or a refund then. If it comes down to that, I might just take the refund instead.
