So, how are they getting the batteries back? Are they arranging a FedEx pre-paid pickup? Or are you picking up the tab for returning the batteries?

Replacement parts (under warranty) typically ship in a postage pre-paid, reusable box. All you have to do is call the shipping company to arrange for a pickup.

Its UPS and the packages are pre paid so i wont be picking up the bill because the batterie(s) were supposed to be replacements.
 
Needless to say that i will be contacting apple about the error (after all they do have my credit card details)... Who knows they may decide its not worth their while paying for the shipping and stocking etc. and just let me keep them!

this reminds me of my aunt that smuggled a sack of chips back in the supermarket when she discovered the cashier did not bill it.
