Apple should acquire EA Games and then immediately cease development of all titles for Xbox, Xbox 360, and Windows.

Then it should release the next FIFA game Mac only!

ATTENTION EVERYONE: Prepare for battle... the True Mac Gamer has returned!!!

there really is no point to that. apple has no need or desire to buy up a game publisher, its a can of worms thats best left at a good distance. build a good relationship with them? yes. but it'd go nowhere as a purchase.

the best thing apple could do right now is work better with the graphic card makers and optimize the hell out of Open GL to make it a more attractive gaming platform, helps that steam launched and should get more devs on board for the Mac eventually.

yes.. lets buy an expensive company who has sucky profits... then run them straight into the ground. sounds like a great idea

this is why Apple has a lot of money and YOU DON'T!!!

Yea EA, one of the worst developers out there. That would be an excellent move, why not double how terrible it could be by buying Activision too!

Apple would be a better match with Nintendo or Blizzard. EA is a assimilator not an innovator there is no match in company ideals.

Apple should buy EA !
Just to destroy it, making sure they never again ruin awesome games !
EA destroyed Red Alert ! Grrr

EA for years have made awful games. They make most of their money on sports games, which have minimal development costs because all they need to do year on year is update the players and tweak the graphics. They don't really add many other innovations. For years the FIFA series has lagged behind Pro Evo, only recently has the FIFA series been able to match it.

In terms of non-sport games, there are a few gems like the Sims or MoH: Frontline, but most others are mediocre at best. MoH: Rising Sun was shockingly bad, NfS Underground games could have been much better, Then they bought the Burnout series, which used to be good but I found Burnout Paradise so boring!

Why? To get worse games? Let EA be like it is.

EA has lost nearly $2 billion in the last 3 years.

A very poor decision to buy them. They produce awful games with awful DRM that upsets those who have paid for the software, ironically while the pirates produce a version that avoids all the DRM hassle, making it very much playable.

Anyway, wait a few years and pick up the distrobution rights of all the old titles for pennies when EA goes under. Their share price can only go down.
I find it hard to believe that their business model across all platforms has been stated to be to sell games as a service. I'm envisioning something like "pay-per-play".

Troll, anyone?

I mean, when "ATTENTION EVERYONE: Prepare for battle" is part of the post, is it really worth it to take the bait?

OP: I think you would've gotten more ire if you'd suggested that EA buy Apple. Evidently, you're a little too subtle for this forum.

All of you are so negative. Obviously, Apple would buy EA and turn the company around. Most of you should be aware that Apple has a knack for taking things that already exist and making them better. They could turn a currently mediocre game company back into the great game company that it once was.

Think of all the big-name franchises under EA: FIFA, NBA Live, Madden, Need For Speed, Command & Conquer, Medal of Honor, James Bond 007, Burnout, Battlefield, The Sims, and others. If Apple was in control of those, they could release some awesome top-tier, Mac first and/or Mac only games that would also perform at a top level compared to other platforms.

I know you are joking right now. it won't ever happen. period. windows PC platform is money making system. it is way bigger than you think. for mac? you mean ipod touch, ipad? yeah, Apple can do it for mobile game market. not traditional game market. even Apple is brilliant, it can never break that thick market. it's totally different story. you think that Apple tries, and will be successful? no. EA won't be aquired by Apple. if it would be happened, I will hate.

How about unrepentant fan boy who proves his fervent love for Mac by abandoning most logical thinking and spouting sweet nothings in our ears? For example, give one logical reason why they would stop development on the 360 and PC- for their love of Mac? :D

That's easy: Microsoft is the competition. If hugely popular games, like FIFA, are suddenly not available on F-box and Windoze, then gamers have to choose another platform to play them. It ends up hurting M$. Big-time!

M$ did the same thing with Halo when they launched the Fbox. And M$ is currently doing that with Unreal Tournament 3 (delaying the game's release on Mac and Linux). Apple needs to give M$ a taste of their own medicine; see how they like it!

Lol can't you see the difference between buying up a team working on a single game (halo/bungie) and buying a giant publisher that owns many teams working on multiple franchises, some of which are already best-sellers?

EA aren't all bad.. Brutal legend, dead space, etc.

You do realize consumers won't go "Oh I cannot pay my faveourite $40 game anymore, I will now spend $1000 on another machine just so I can play it again."
They'll just buy another game. derp.

Have you been living under a rock?? Apple is already breaking that market by grabbing 10% of the user base. Their market capital has surpassed M$ and developers are increasingly supporting the Mac OS. M$ on the other hand, is releasing disastrous operating systems, losing market share and browser share, and have an idiot at the helm. The fall of M$ is on the horizon.

Meanwhile, games are coming out for the Mac left and right from a number of publishers, Steam has arrived, and Apple seems to be serious about updating graphics drivers. Mac Gaming is getting a serious boost here, not just iPod and iPad Gaming.

It only goes up from here.

By "same thing", I was referring to making a single game exclusive on one platform

More great reasons for Apple to purchase EA

If enough big-name games are exclusive, they will
