I've used IUP for years. This year I wasn't able to preorder because their system is so messed up and their customer service has no idea wtf is going on (just keep being sent to and from sales and support). I'm just trading it in and buying it outright. Won't be upgrading every year anymore...just not worth the headache

I certainly prefer the IUP over any other options. Yes, there is the occasional credit check risk, but that's the only adverse credit impact.

I don't like the 0% interest Apple Card option because it looks like the entire loan amount is "credit used" and its revolving. Although its 0% interest, it "feels" worse than a single credit hit.

If you know you are going to upgrade yearly, IUP is the easiest. No hassle.
For me it’s the “psychological” impact…

The IUP is designed to keep you in a perpetual buy cycle. By the 12 month mark, I find myself rationalizing upgrading, even if the features are not compelling…
The remaining 12 months I’m going to be paying $58 per month, so might as well put that towards new tech… rinse/repeat 12 months later. 🤣

You are 100% correct. I’m stuck in that same “renting” stage. I’m paying 54.08 anyway, why not upgrade.

At this point I’ve accepted that I will forever pay $50 a month for a phone.

This is exactly my thinking. $61.15 a month to have the latest iPhone why not. Buy on launch day and repeat year after. I bet the majority that complain about IUP program are those that spend $61 bucks a month in dumb stuff. Maybe one less outing a month for them will be enough to justify IUP.

I don’t use that option because of course it takes it away from my credit limit. IUP makes sense to me by all means.

Hmm… no. Why should you get priority over someone that upgrades yearly out of pocket? Not everyone wants a hard credit pull every year.

Either way Apple is making $$$, so I don’t think corporate would care.

Keep in mind I’ve purchased a number of different ways ( carrier, IUP, …).
Agreed. Your money isn’t more valuable than anyone else.

Yep. Wonder how many Starbucks runs some of them make every month. I'm not on the program because I think it's cost saving. It's something I enjoy.

Its cost effective. Its less of a hassle. Sometimes we pay for convenience. IUP is that to me.
Right, but I mean you'll get the people that will say "If you keep your phone for 4 years it ends up being $YY dollars a month." As if I didn't know keeping a phone for 4 years is cheaper than being on an annual upgrade program.

Right. I change phones every 12 months. I never keep a phone beyond that. BTW the same people that complain about IUP are the same people who spend $21 to get a big mac meal delivered to them via uber.

I'm thinking of joining this year for the regular iPhone 15 I assume it will be $39.50. You guys are also right there are people that will spend more then $50 a month on Starbucks or other subscription service that they don't use but yet they will complain.

Cost depends on what phone you pick and how much storage you pick. The first month is slightly more expensive and then it settles into the same price every month. I still love the program.

So far I understand That the first month you have to pay the tax straight out but I'm just getting the regular 15 128gb since I don't really see a difference with the pro models.
