Saw this iPhone case mod on Engadget this A.M. & thought it looks more like an Apple product than the actual 3Gs case, which is tired and cheap (for and Apple product). (Love my 3Gs, hate the case. Much prefer the mostly metal back of the original iPhone to the craplastic back of the 3Gs.).

Hopefully Apple has taken notice -- though probably too late for the next iPhone model, but maybe Apple already was thinking along the same lines.

i don't like the indented apple logo. i agree that they should go back to a brushed aluminium case to match the imac, mbp and ipad, but it should be smooth/flush and the apple logo and text should be black (see latest imacs and ipad).

just my opinion ofc.

I was just about to say I prefer the black plastic to the original iPhone, but then this one just looks awesome :D

I like it, however, I am sure Apple's marketing crew know what they're doing. Personal preference does not justify what the market wants.

It looks OK, but I am not unhappy with how it is now
I didn't buy the iPhone for how the back looks anyway
I keep mine in a slider case, so I never see the back

Ew, I don't like it at all. It looks thick and awkward. That hard edge around the back ruins it as well. I do agree about having a metal back instead of plastic, though. Just not this one...

Completely agree, this one looks pretty ugly with that logo and for some reason looks thicker. I think Apple knows how to design their products and doesn't need this guy though it is impressive that he made a whole new back casing on his own. A metal design would be great though to match the rest of the products.

WOW! That is very impressive that the guy designed and built his own backing and made it out of the titanium alloy to allow the RF waves. I love that look and really hope apple impliments some kind of metal backing to the next iPhone.

The finish can be improved.

He has a silent slider instead of a OEM rotary one. Did he change the switch hardware too?

It's a concept render, by the way. There's so such thing was an 'RF-transparent titanium alloy'. At least, not right now.

I like it, but I think the indented Apple Logo should be white and should light up like it does on the MacBooks. It would also be cool if it came in black with the white logo. :D

I'm sure it's about the same size as the plastic back...Anyway, with Apple pumping out a bazillion phones they would never go to the expense of putting a titanium metal alloy back on when the current cheepo plastic back probably costs like 3-cents.

Im pretty sure, for Apple, personal preference is exactly what dictates what the market wants.

It just happens to be the personal preference of some other dude none of us has met.

i like it better i personally didn't like the original but this makes it look it ten times better i would appreciate if they made it like that for the next iphone its plain but beautiful also i would of sprat painted the sim tray silver instead of leaving it black

While this is nice I'd rather the iPhone 4G have the unibody back they put on the iPad. That looks slick and very Apple. I wouldn't be surprised if that's the back we see when it's released, considering the iPad does come with 3G connectivity.
