While this is nice I'd rather the iPhone 4G have the unibody back they put on the iPad. That looks slick and very Apple. I wouldn't be surprised if that's the back we see when it's released, considering the iPad does come with 3G connectivity.

Well yes, but the 3G iPad also has a black strip like the original aluminum iPhone. So they would probably apply a strip here as well if they were to do something similar again.

I love the general Idea, but as for an actual production item, that would be unattractive. If apple apple does go back to a high quality back (and god help all the plastic owners:)) it would certainly make sense.

Do most of you feel the next gen will have something like this? Similiar at least, aluminum or some type of metal for a casing?

Not a chance. Most metals would attenuate the signals needed for the phone and the GPS and titanium is both expensive and hellish difficult to machine. I'd like to see a robust carbon-fiber case on the next iPhone I buy.

My screen name comes from owning and riding a Litespeed titanium mountain bike. Titanium is a great material - corrosion resistant and high strength to weight ratio. But probably not an ideal material for an iphone case. It scratches easily and as metal would more than likely interfere with receiving/sending transmissions. Scratch resistant plastic or carbon fiber make much more sense as a case material. Nice execution though.

i don't like the indented apple logo. i agree that they should go back to a brushed aluminium case to match the imac, mbp and ipad, but it should be smooth/flush and the apple logo and text should be black (see latest imacs and ipad).

just my opinion ofc.

I actually like this idea. But i also love my 3GS like it is now , white is nice. ;d
