Linux sucks. There’s a reason it’s largely unknown and seldom used. They can’t even give it away for free.
Wow, you don't have the slightest clue of what you're talking about. I'd make a bet that the router and modem you're using right now are running linux, and let's not forget that linux servers are hosting the vast majority of websites you visit.

not free ? OSX is kinda kid in the block compare the usefulness of normal unix/linux flavour or even Windows.
I can use normal unix command in OSX and also in normal linux flavour, but memory management in OSX pretty bad. The only way you can clear the memory is to push all app open and close it, the reason they want caching.

Why don’t you build your own PC with the same specs in a tiny case for $299?
Building a system with the same specs could be tricky, it has been years since Apple updated the Mac mini and I'm not sure Intel still sells CPUs that old to any one but Apple.

_____

Security researcher Lee Muson of Comparitech says that “macOS is likely to be the pick of the bunch” when it comes to choosing a more secure OS, but he cautions that it is not impenetrable
______

Joe Moore of Wolf Solutions gives Apple a bit more credit, saying that “off the shelf, macOS X has a great track record when it comes to security, in part because it isn’t as widely targeted as Windows and in part because Apple does a pretty good job of staying on top of security issues.”

Exactly. You could lock down Linux or use a secure distro but it’s hardly more secure than macOS out of the box- usually you have to be more than a power user and dive into configuration files from the command line or hope they have a gui for those settings. The exception obviously is a preconfigured secure distro but again out of the box macOS is pretty good and much more user-friendly.

I'm talking about the desktop OS. I tried it. It absolutely sucks and hardly anybody wants to use it.

The same price for the same spec'd computer!
We are talking about technology. Older computers are supposed to go down in price because their value goes down with each passing year. The 2015-era CPU, the 2008-era TN display, the tiny 128GB SSD and the small 8GB of RAM all cost a lot less today than when they each became available to manufacturers.

For crying out loud, HP and others just announced laptops with as much RAM as the MacBook Air has for storage. I'm not saying these new laptops can be compared directly, but when your competitors have as much RAM in their high-end laptops as you have in your low-end laptops then there's a problem somewhere.

Nobody will pay $5000 for a Tandy 4033 LX in 2018 just like nobody should still be paying $999 for a 2015 MacBook Air in 2018.

Other companies either upgrade their computers or lower the prices accordingly. And since Apple operates behind closed doors and we keep hearing "great things in the pipeline" but yet nothing happens except expensive things like the iMac Pro that nobody asked for, we can't plan our upgrades ahead of time.

I think Apple has just decided that they hate "Mini's". I have wanted an iPad Mini for awhile, but the newest is the Mini 4 which was introduced in 2015. Yesterday I gave up and got a 2018 9.7" iPad, I just couldn't justify my size preference when the 2018 iPad has a processor that's two generations newer and support for the Apple Pencil. The 128gb LTE 2018 iPad only costs $30 more than the equivalent 2015 Mini 4. So Apple is also selling 2015 iPad technology at 2015 prices.

At $300 it would be at par with other NUCs at that performance level.
As premium product it is impossible, unless third party authorised seller. Even so at here, people still line a long for a product which 10 years before when sales begun.
