Eh, at least it includes the cover for the front glass. I mean, this is Apple we're talking about. The case was always going to be an (expensive) extra, but that you get at least some minor, custom-fit protection in the box is welcome.
Very true! On the whole I actually am pretty pleasantly surprised with how much comes in the box — both bands and the cover was nice to find out.

It’s pretty aligned with other Gen 1 Apple products getting more accessories in the box than their successors, too. Original iPhone came with the dock and a polishing cloth, I think, and the original Apple Watch had that fancy display box.

Apple today provided a closer look at what comes in the box with the Vision Pro, which is now available to pre-order in the United States.

Two notable accessories include a cover for the Vision Pro's front glass, and a polishing cloth with Vision Pro branding. Other accessories are more familiar by now, including the Solo Knit Band, Dual Loop Band, external battery pack, and more.

Alongside the Vision Pro, the following accessories are included in the box:
  • Light Seal
  • Light Seal Cushion (Two Sizes)
  • Solo Knit Band
  • Dual Loop Band
  • Front Cover
  • Battery Pack
  • Polishing Cloth (Vision Pro Branding)
  • 30W USB-C Power Adapter
  • USB‑C Charging Cable
For more details about these accessories, read our previous coverage of what's in the box.

Enough with the stupid "polishing cloth" - it's not worth mentioning it is it?

There are a bunch of valid criticisms to the Vision Pro. “The new special $399 cloth doesn’t come with its own case???” is not one of them. Everyone should at least engage in some actual discourse rather than doing the like-bait cloth-bashing for 75 consecutive posts.
Why should we?

The fact that a site like MacRumours calls the included polishing cloth "notable" is pure comedy.

It's made for jokes and rip off.

Oh good grief.

A polishing cloth is now a notable accessory?

Every cheapo pair of sunglasses has a polishing cloth included — sometimes even 2!

I just want to know what is so special about the case that makes it $200 + tax

What are they made of? Fine Woven Unicorn farts?

You're not wrong, in the royal sense, but come on now. This is the internet. It's what we do.

I have a house full of Apple gear. Just bought myself a spanking new Series 9 Apple Watch that I quite like. But I'm also at the forefront of criticizing and making fun of Apple and have no apologies. I'm no company's cheerleader. I pay them money, they give me a product. That's a fair exchange. And Apple makes some darn good products with excellent value overall. If they'd like me to promote other products and spread warm fuzzies about their brand, however, they can pay me.

Until then, it's claws out.

Woah, a special polishing cloth. I was wondering what would set me out to depart with $3,499 + massive amount of tax, but after seeing that, it sealed the deal! /s

Woah, Apple is actually putting stuff in the box besides just the device and an average-quality cable? That's some truly next-level luxury; they're really pushing the boundaries on making sure the customer has a premium experience. 🤯

I mean, really, Apple putting stuff in the box besides the bare minimum? Next you'll tell me that Tim Cook will personally deliver it to my house himself and wipe the tears of joy from my eyes with a Versace handkerchief. Truly, the customer experience has never felt so premium. :apple:

I have the gen-1 polishing cloth. I found it’s easier just to spray with Windex and wipe with Kleenex.

Special polishing cloth!!!!!!????
If you take the time to read forums posts in the Apple Support Communities they are always full of angry users who claim their iPhone or Watch faces got scratched and they “didn’t do nutt'in”. When told accidental cosmetic damage is not covered by the warranty they go ballistic.

So I think this is an attempt at a pro-active encouragement to use the cloth supplied. Eyeglass wearers know full well you are not supposed to clean your lens with tissue paper because it does scratch the lens. Yet many do it and wind up with a scratched lens.

The sarcasm about a polishing cloth is humorous but people can be extremely stupid when it comes to caring for expensive products. I guess that’s why AppleCare+ for the Vision Pro is $500 and includes unlimited accidental damage repairs.

Oh snap specially branded polishing cloth?!

I’m not gonna lie I really want to be sarcastic about this but I also really want one.

Looking forward to polishing mine on Feb 2nd. I have not been this excited about a product since the first iPhone.
