Apple stop the programmed killing of good phones.... IOS frustrations

I did it again, even though i should have known better, i IOS “upgraded” when i propably should not have...

My thinking was this. My perfectly functional Iphone 6plus is less than 2 years old. It has a descent processor and ample space.

So i jumped on the IOS 11 wagon, since Apple reminded me of the possibility. THe result... some new functions, new icons, and a very very slow phone compared to the previous system. I am baffled by this and I hate Apple for it. I just cant believe that my phone is not fast enough to show a different graphical interface and so on. One example, a simple list with tickmarks in “notes”. Now when i add a simple “tickmark” it takes teh phone 1-2 sec to put it there. It makes teh phone feel VERY slugish. What the f.... its a tickmark. A simple graphic element on a list. I can “check off” 5-6 off them before the graphic starts to appear.

Its is sloppy coding at its worst, OR more realistically Apple who is programming the death of perfectly functional phones, this has been the same for a lot of iterations i feel. Now I am heavily invested in the IOS platform, i have Iphone, Ipad Mini, Ipad Pro, Macbook pro you name it. BUT i am starting to think if its time to look for platforms that are independent of apple. I use evernote, wunderlist etc. Who are actually working on multiple platforms. I just dont think that updates to Android kills off hardware they way Apple does it.

Very frustrated about this, especially considering the crazy prizes on Iphones these days.

I would like to hear how IOS 11 feels on your hardware, did it kill your phone too ??

Roll back to iOS 10 if you feel this way - I think there are still a few days left to do this. The iPhone 6 Plus was underpowered on the day it came out over three years ago, unfortunately. It wasn't until the 6S that it felt like it had enough horsepower to drive the higher resolution display(and its oversampling technique) and all the new bells and whistles, so it's understandable that the 6 Plus isn't going to feel like a rocket ship.

Android is an option, sure - but know that there you simply aren't going to get OS updates to a device at all like you would with Apple providing iOS 11 as far back as the 5S.

I have a 7+, and it didn't kill my phone, but got it stutters soooooo much with simple animations from opening apps. That doesn't even mention 3d touch stutters.

I bought it in July, and this phone which was the strongest phone on the market as of less than a month ago, stutters like the slowest phones are the market...

I don't even want to hear the "wait for a .x update" because having a super stuttery phone for 2 months ever year is crazy. People used to make fun of android for this, but android runs butter smooth compared to my 7+ now.

I would also say that my experience with android phones has not been great. The OS feels sluggish all the time to me and as you mentioned, when a new update comes out, the carrier and phone manufacturer have to first make their needed changes to it before they push the update out to the phone. This has led to a very slow adoption rate of new android releases and has left some phones stuck on old software simply because phone manufacturers and carriers don't bother with it.

Truth is the 6 + was already under powered back in 2014. But right now even the iPhone 8 has lag issues on IOS 11. Hopefully an update will make it better.

Worked wonderfully well on my 6s. Works even better on my 8+.

Google will stop supporting hardware after 3 to 4 years, so yes, things time out in that world too.

Compared to IOS 10, IOS 11 is sluggish on the 7 + and even the 8 +.

Hey I must say I dont believe that they are not purposely doing it. OR at least they dont spend many minutes working on optimizing the system for more phones, the same thing, nicer wording.

Anyhow thx for the link. BUT stupid me might allready have made a backup after the ios11.... doew itunes routinely store more than the very latest “bacup” ??

Let's get real, the only reason these problems exist is because iOS is seriously unoptimized these days. iOS is not some heavy feature OS, it's pretty simple and doesn't have nearly the amount of features of android.

iPhones have the best processors on the market and are more than powerful enough to handle simple animations if the code was written even remotely efficiently.

Your 6+ also has 1gb of RAM and was underpowered on the day it was released. That’s why I skipped iPhone 6’s generation.

If you go one step further and look at samsung with their edge panels/S-pen features. Then instead of just siri, there's both google assistant and bixby. In a nut shell, it's much more difficult to code a very open system where things have to work properly no matter what the user changes, compared to a close system where things don't change.

Well I was asking because I don't know if android analyzes and categorizes your photos depending on the context of the image. Does android also recognize peoples faces in photos and group those together? Does android also analyze your most frequent visited locations and give you updates on traffic time to those locations? There are a lot of things that iOS is doing in the background besides displaying animations and app icons.

Is the google assistant and bixby using nural networks and machine learning to carry out tasks?
Again I don't personally know, thats why im asking.
I have not used android in a many many years.

My only issue with IOS 11 (on 7+) is the home button delay. Basically causes the whole phone to feel sluggish, plus some stutters in animations.
