Apple Store - Chapelfield, Norwich, Norfolk, UK

Does anyone else think that this 'fashion-only' + HMV only shopping mall is just crying out for an Apple Store? What are the chances? Poor Norwich could really do with one. We don't even have a reseller unless you count John Lewis but it takes weeks for them to get something in stock.

I would like to think Apple would open one But now there is one in Cambridge I don't think there is much chance of it.

I thought one of the units on Chapelfield Plain would have been perfect, as they would let Apple keep the extended opening hours they like. Or even a unit like Borders with external access…

Failing that, there's a number of units inside that are have still not been filled or are now unoccupied (SilverScreen etc.). I don't know if they're big enough for an Apple Store, but even a small store would be better than nothing, right?

Absolutely. I'd be happy with a kiosk! We just need something more up to date than John Lewis to be honest.

Norwich does have an alternative, they are called Bite Systems on Mountergate, postcode NR1 1PY, Not only are they Apple Authorized Service Providers but also an Authorized Reseller, with car parking!! If they haven't got it in stock it normally comes in next day.

Well, there are Apple shops (in PC World stores) in locations with their own Apple store such as Lakeside, Liverpool, Manchester, Birmingham, Leicester, etc...

If anyone knows Chapelfield, the Apple Store should've been where the new Disney Store is.

Its sad because I like Norwich - its a big city - unlike Cambridge that only has 155,000 people.

On a side note - one of my last days in Cambridge happened to coincide with the opening of the Apple Store and I got a T-Shirt to go with my two London Reagent Street ones. I actually got 3 that day - gave one to brother-in-law and he still wears it.

I would love to see an apple store in chapelfield though I would probably go in too often and lose track of my uni work/funding! I have used Bitesystems for two repairs under applecare and they were amazing, very quick, helpful etc. so don't necessarily need the apple store for repairs.

Looks like I got the numbers wrong there. Norwich is slightly bigger but not by much.

Norwich feels like a city - Cambridge feels like a town. Perception of size is a wonderful thing

Apple Store

Although not in Chapelfield, Norwich does have an official Apple Store located inside PC World on Sweet Briar Retail Park. It is done to look like an Apple Shop. It is one of Apple 'Shop-in-Shop' projects. It has an official Apple Solutions Consultant on hand 5 out of 7 days (generally off Tues / Weds).
They have stock all the time and can do certain upgrades. Not just CPU but also many accessories and various software. They also sell AppleCare, which no retailer sells on the high street.
Jon, who is the Apple Professional on hand, is very knowledgeable, and vert helpful.
I suggest that any Apple needs you have, you should see him.

An apple store in Norwich would be immense, Chapelfield would make a good location for it aswell.
I haven't noticed the Apple Shop-in-a-Shop in PC World. Must either be recent or I have somehow just not seen it Anyway, does anyone know if there are plans for an Apple store in Norwich?

Similarly, I noticed that USC have closed their store in Chapelfield. Isn't that store even bigger than the old unit occupied by Joy?
There's a notice up in the window of USC saying they will be opening a new store in the centre [mall] soon (or something along those lines).

Wouldn't you think that the Chapelfield management would have given USC a discount on their current lease rather than have another store become unoccupied (albeit temporarily)?

Unless Apple wanted a larger unit than was currently available and this coincided with USC wanting to downgrade their space…

can't see the issue here! Norwich has an apple showroom, and authorised repair place on Mountergate just up from the railway station with parking so you don't have the aggro of the city shops! Last I heard the Apple Store in Cambridge had closed so Bite Systems seem to be the only Apple specialists in the region for sales and repairs. If you buy from John Lewis and it goes wrong the people at Bite are the ones who do their fix call-outs. http://bitesystems.co.uk

Apple have announced that they are planning to open a store in Norwich! It says this on the UK news page (http://www.apple.com/uk/hotnews).

Also, according to the jobs page it will be in Chapelfield.

Brilliant News! Where do you think it'll be? I vote the old Pier store, USC, or they shut down House of Fraser, stick a huge Apple in the glass and occupy all the floors - that'd be great!
