either to express ourselves or because we think we look good this way. Half the clothes I own I chose because I look like a doll in them it's expressionism, it's done for ourselves not for anyone else. Most of the time I try not to be noticed! many people react violently or obnoxiously to the way I dress. There's no good reason to draw attention to yourself in this manner.jimsowden said:Why express yourself in that way if not to get noticed?

When did I speak ill of dressing for attention? I dress normally, not frumpy but I wear what's comfortable easy.Josh said:To be an individual? (which really isn't too true, since no matter what you do, you're just conforming to another group).
Why is not blending in and being yourself a bad thing?
If by your same logic that he dresses that way to get attention, are you telling me you dress the way you do to purposely *not* get attention?
When you wake up and get dressed, or when you buy clothes, do you purposefulyl seek out the least-attention getting items?
I doub't it. You dress the way you do because you like the clothes you're wearing. It's entirely no different for him or anyone else.

You see them as halloween costumes, I see them as attractive and expressionistic. The fact that you can't rationalize something doesn't mean that others can't. And please, let's not argue, that sounds aggressively toned, debate sounds more reasonablejimsowden said:Ok, I doubt any of us are psychologists and are able to analyze human intent to the point of consciousness and sub-consciousness. I can not rationalize why someone would dress that way if they didnt care what other people though of them. To be comfortable it a totally inward trend, but putting on mascara and Halloween costumes is an act I cannot construe other than attention-wanting. Lets argue some more.

That part was sarcastic. I really don't like to argue, it's just I can't stop once I start. I understand you're expressing yourself, though I don't fully understand your medium.MentalFabric said:You see them as halloween costumes, I see them as attractive and expressionistic. Think of it as characters in a play, dressed to play roles - similar to actors, many people dress to express the role they're playingjimsowden said:That part was sarcastic.
