I always go through Verizon. I use the plan were you pay a monthly interest free payment, you can payoff at any time. The iPhone pays off in 2 years and I just continue this payment with the latest iPhone. The old iPhone is sold to Gazelle. You are not paying any more or less, I always get Apple Care. Even if you don't use it you have priority phone support from Apple. Plus there are Verizon stores everywhere, not so with Apple.

I have that same plan with T-Mobile and was thinking of doing the same with Verizon but I don’t want my Verizon bill to be so much more expensive than T-Mobile, so I’m paying outright this year. I already have my account ready with the funds including taxes and AppleCare+.

I’m paying outright. If I buy through Apple will the phone be unlocked? I know with Verizon you have to have it on their network for 60-90 days before they’ll unlock it.

You’ll want to choose the sim free unlocked version if buying outright. But according to apple, only at&t phones on installment are locked in. Personally, my wife and I bought our 11s outright on apple store online, bought a Verizon sim kit from Walmart and did Verizon prepay(eSim doesn’t work with Verizon prepay yet).

That’s what I’m going to do. This will be the second time I buy through Apple. Don’t Sim free usually come out later?

It has depended on demand. With the X, the SIM free model came out later, it waited until a couple weeks after I caved in late November and went back to postpaid to buy it. But if the model isn't anything special, then the SIM free model can be available at launch. Such as the 8 the year the X also came out. I suspect that, with 5G, and Corona, the SIM free model this year will be delayed.

If the Sim free model is delayed past the launch then I’ll just pay outright for a Verizon model, or I’ll order through Verizon to make the switch easier.
