apple stores sold out of MBP 15"

none of the Georgia stores have it. And when I called Apple they said it would be two weeks and apparently they are out nationwide of the 15s...anyone know why?

I know that 3 weeks ago, in Chicago, in ALL 5 Apple Stores, they were also sold out. I had to find mine in a lost city 1h away from civilization... and it was the last one, too. Now why Apple makes laptops in such a small quantity is beyond me.
 
Strange. i bought my 15" last week in Los Angeles, and they said they had plenty of them. In glossy, no less. By the way, in case you didn't notice, the shipping time has gone from 5-7 days to 7-10 days online.
 
the 15" is much more popular than the 17" and with the recent update it seems that a lot of people have decided to buy one
 
back-to-school season already, maybe? i hope i can get my hands on one of them in august before school starts...
 
Apple has been enjoying increasing sales of its laptops over the past few fiscal quarters. Combine that with the recent update and the overall popularity of the 15.4" model, and my guess would be that the supply simply isn't keeping up with demand.
 
Well, I guess it could be a good thing for Apple, although, I really hope they increase production.
 
I ordered my 15.4" Glossy at the Apple Store Online at the beginning of the month. The shipping is currently scheduled around the 18th. A quick call to Apple Customer Service resulted in, "Yeah, the reason why you're seeing the delay is because the 15.4 MBPs are on backorder." I didn't press the guy for more specific information. My guess is that they're receiving the next batch of LED screens.

They aren't making them in small quantities. They are just selling like hotcakes.

then probably there is no update soon for the MBP!
think about it...if everyone buys now (which is pretty damn new the SR MBP that is), and in october, if apple releases a new MBP, everyone's going to be like WTF !@&*#(&^*@#^&*!@#&*

good news apple is selling well.
 
i had to wait 3 weeks for the NH store to get a 2.2 matte in stock. when i got there, several people were carrying their mbps out. i think they are in extremely high demand

i don t think they ll be an update but apple has never given two s**ts about people getting angry
 
wow, i had no idea 15" MBPs were in such high demand! do you think this will only get worse in august, right in the middle of BTS season??
 
I just bought my 15.4" SR MBP 2.4ghz yesterday at my local Apple store. It is matte as well.
 
King of Prussia, PA and Freehold, NJ are out of 2.2 GHz MBP. They have the 2.4 in. I'm buying a MBP this week and I want the 2.2, but if they are out, I'll suck it up and buy the 2.4.

Exactly what I did ;). I assumed the lack of productivity I would suffer in a possible 6 week wait time was worth the extra cash... plus an upgrade.
 
Yeah! A few weeks ago the Westchester Apple Store was out of 2. Ghz Matte MBP. I had to drive up to the Palisades store to pick mine up.

Yeah, I live in Atlanta. The manager at the Lenox store told me that no store in the southeast has them in stock. I'm actually waiting on exchanging mine (it has been experiencing random shutdowns). But, I'm out of luck for at least 2 weeks.

I hope this delay is indeed a factory change to address the yellow tint issue and/or Apple phasing out the Samsung displays entirely.
 
Anybody know if any of the NYC stores have them in stock now? I also hope the delay is related to the display, but I doubt it very much.
 
Delay and sell-outs are most likely due to them being in demand, not likely because Apple halted production
 
I can't remember a time when apple was sold out of laptops for over three weeks like this, especially after a launch where there were plenty of them. Something else is going on, but what I don't know. Maybe it's just a shortage of a part, or maybe soemthing else.
