Why they are not suing Alphabet/Google?

Their video and image generators are best in whole industry. Do they really think they were not trained on YouTube content? It looks as if they are Google’s shills, since they are not attacking platform provider.

Btw, YouTube already does ugly AI upscaling for all Shorts. It is especially noticeable in clips of old movies where natural film noise was removed and video looks so oversharpened as if it was shot with Google Pixel or iPhone
Maybe the Google/YouTube TOS gives them permission.

What’s unethical about learning from a public video?
Circumventing YouTube's protections to prevent scraping. So far the wins haven't been about permission, but provenance... how the works were obtained. That's why Anthropic settled for 1.5 billion, to avoid the possibility of paying 75 billion on statutory damages for the pirated book collection they used.

I never heard of these channels so I took a look at one ... I can't see what a bunch of angry dumb sheets ranting about who knows what would be of any value to an AI.... Or maybe that's why Siri sucks so much.

The last time this topic came up, as with anything involving H3, there were a number of deeply antisemitic comments posted in response. Which I politely acknowledged and called out without even directly referencing any individual post… and it was my comment that got deleted for breaking rules. Deeply disappointing and concerning.
Thankfully, I don’t see any of that in this new thread. Not yet, anyway. Hopefully that sort of hate speech is not handwaved by MacRumors staff.
