I've been waiting in vain for anyone to mention AirPlay 2. Is it just understood that this cannot and will not have AirPlay? It's the one feature that would get me to buy this speaker.

I have seen kids walking around with bluetooth speakers and listening music like in the 80s with boombox. If apple drops these with <100$ price tag with descent quality, it’s going to be a huge hit.

The quality will definitely have descended.

Crappy quality is the whole Beats shtick. Over-boosted bass and tinny high end is what they're known for.

No. But it’s Apple and it’s apparently social acceptable to do what I said above these days so I have no doubt this is why this item was brought back from the grave.
The speaker is not the problem, it's people who exist in a world as if they're the only ones in it. Like a guy in the waiting area at an airport recently, listening to videos at full volume from his phone -- no amount of ANC could block it.

The most annoying thing about most of the BT speakers is the lack of a previous song button.
To repeat a song you have to resort to your phone. I really don't understand these design decisions. Is it to save $0.50?
Usually you press the b button 3 times to go back, twice to go forward, once to pause/play, and hold down for Siri.

Not on all of them, unfortunately. Still, there is plenty of space to include additional buttons and make it simple, so annoying that they try to save cents instead of making it more user-friendly.
