I'm actually surprised that Apple is offering this. Also, I would think that it would be available in other countries as well, not sure why it's not.

Eval offer has been available for years actually.

well what about canada ehy? ... Just kidding but Rilly what about canada? I would like to get on the eval fun, and I am 15, like crap, what about canada?????

Just got my copy shipped. I'm 15 as well, but I'm actually looking into making a small business. SL server is just the thing I need to get it going too! Thanks Apple! :apple:

Everyone's always open to a free copy of SL server :p. Hoping it comes to the UK too.

Not ethically:
This Mac OS X Server evaluation offer is valid only in the United States. This offer is limited to corporations, small businesses, nonprofit organizations, government agencies, and educational institutions located in the United States.

Really? I don't doubt you, I've just never seen it on Apple's pages before.

Indeed, there was one for 10.5 as well, but again it had the same rules as alredy posted, and I think you have to provide justification if you have less than 10 employees.

Its only a free trial that that will terminate on Nov 30, 2009...They give you serial number to enter but its only good for month. The letter tells you that you can purchase your copy before the trial expires....Anyone wants this? just got it today in the mail but I already purchase snow leopard:)

I received mine today. It says like Firewater said that it is only a trial until Nov. But Apple doesn't usually offer trial versions of their software do they? I would think this is the full version and it won't actually turn off in Nov, but I could be wrong. I wouldn't risk my server going dead on Nov 30.

Yes, Apple does offer trials. iWork is an example.

In the case of Mac OS X Server, unlike client, it uses a serial number. The serial you received is only good til Nov. 30. After which, you will need to enter a purchased serial. You will not be able to do anything after that date without entering the serial from a purchased copy.

So, the OS you are receiving is the full version, but you can only use it til Nov. 30. Do you really think Apple would allow for such a loophole? "Request a trial and get the whole thing for free!" Really? Apple is just going to send you $500 software and let you use it indefinitely? Does that make any sense to you?

The trial copy is not really aimed at production servers for that reason alone. You can install it there, but it would be rather silly if you decided not to buy.
