I don't care about YouTube, however, I would love to know if any bug fixes are included in this update. Anyone know?
Dave
Can't tell you, as I haven't experienced any bugs.![]()
Bad news according to chas0001 on this thread (here, post 132);Does anyone know if the update breaks SSH and AFP? I'd hate to have to pull the drive out again.
chas0001 said:A word of warning though, this update does remove any hacks (frappliances) you may have added to AppleTV Menu and it also disables SSH. Luckily I had my reliable APPLETV Patchstick on hand to enable SSH again.

You may not have a choice...Well, that is a bummer. Looks like I'll forego this update.
From: http://www.theregister.co.uk/2007/06/20/critical_appletv_patch/The Register said:Apple TVs are programmed to download and install any available patches once per week. That means the machines should automatically update within the next seven days. Those, like us, who prefer to receive critical patches a bit more quickly can manually install the fix by choosing Update Software from Apple TV's preference menu.
Its a custom boot image on a USB stick. How does the USB stick work? I'm not familiar with it.
Chas,
How does the USB stick work? I'm not familiar with it.
Thanks,
CM
And for those that mounted drives on other systems, a way to do that. Looks like remote file support was removed. All we need to do now is to get ATVfiles to work!

NP. Thanks for reminding me that my old Shuffle would be a great USB key to use for Patchstick.Thanks![]()
If you've already hacked your AppleTV and have SSH running, I'm hoping that editing the /etc/hosts file to point the site that the Apple TV uses to get updates from (mesu.apple.com) to another IP address will prevent it from doing that "every 7 day" update thing.
