Whilst arguing over names may be interesting it is really semantics and does not answer my question how to get it from my iMac. Someone mentioned Jailbreak and someone else XBMC though not sure how either of these options work or how to achieve this?

Some of this comes down to perception over human faculty. I'm in the business, and I look for aberrations it's what my mind does, most people wouldn't notice a thing. I used to strive for utter perfection, and I still try to produce the best results I can (believe me, you guy's want to hear some of the bands I've been working with lately...errr no you really don't)

But Blu-ray, as in true Blu ray as a fully noticeable, WOW that looks better factor, you need really really high spec kit.

And who, as in most people who view and listen is likely to fork out in excess of £15000.00 to watch a movie or listen to some music?

Nobody, It's just hype, trust me.

That's just ... nonsense, sorry. Fair play if you like your Apple TV set up, but it's simply not right to say you have to spend a fortune to appreciably notice the difference between a DVD rip and a Blu-ray. Big, decent TVs don't cost the earth anymore and neither do BD players, and to refer to things like "perception over human faculty" implying the difference is a slight one is just plain disingenuous. Many of the Blu-ray discs I own that I already had on DVD look stunningly better, and my set up is probably fairly standard for a UK household these days (PS3 and a 46 inch TV).

Exactly. Even on my 32 inch you can easily see the difference between DVD and 720p, which means 1080 will be more noticeable.
