Apple TV IR Blaster Question

Will a USB IR Blaster that does is just a receiver (no IR emitter) control the Apple TV through the USB?

Or do I need to have the type of IR Blaster that has the receiver and the emitter?

I can't comment on the USB IR Blaster, as I have a regular IR emitter, non-blaster version. Works like a charm.

TV USB port is thoroughly gimped. I would not assume it to do anything more than service connections via iTunes.

IR Blaster should work fine though.

The included remote connects via bluetooth, so you can hide the aTV wherever you want as long as it can connect to the remote.

the USB port is only for service
