100 bucks once apple puts out a tv and discontinues the set top box, you really think they will continue supporting the current appletv?

Apple will put out a TV, but timing is uncertain. The ATV is reasonably priced and provides very good features now. And it is not as if the ATV will stop working as soon as Apple puts out a TV. Holding off on spending $100 to buy something very useful now in order to wait to spend $1,000 or more on something that may come out in the next six to 18 months does not make much sense to me.

a new apple tv set box and a new actual tv made by apple is a big difference. Do you really think you can afford an actual Apple tv? A 55 inch one will prob be like $3-4k. It will be at that special section of best buy with the nice furniture where it's like yea your super poor.

It will also be their 1st tv? Do you want to be the 1st person to get a Apple Tv. Do you remember all the problems they had when they switched to Intel chips?

I for one don't think an actual Apple tv will be affordable or even worth the difference in price with a top quality Samsung tv. Apple is a company that likes to make money and they like a certain profit margin. The TV won't be cheap and really what can they do to upgrade a tv set? Siri? After a week of Siri how many people even still use it? I am an Apple fan boy but unless you really need a new tv, why is there ever a reason to get a new one?

I don't have an apple tv but I have a hacked Xbox 360 that is cheaper plays games and does all the apple tv($100) can do but better.

I have tried the Roku 2 XS, ATV2 and now the Boxee Box. Sold the Roku 2 because I am not satisfied with the performance. ATV2 interface is nice, but after now watching content on the Boxee, I will have to say the Boxee is by far ghe best device out there. Netflix is impressive as is NHL hockey. The VUDU app is great and has just as much content as ATV and streams at 1080p. Plus the repository of 3rd party apps allows for the ability to stream just about anything. The cost is more $169 vs $99 and the interface isnt as polished as the ATV2, but as far as content and quality, the Boxee seems to provide all I need. Oh yea, one can now use airplay with the boxee.

Where is an XBox 360 cheaper than an aTV2?
