Same the last 2 weeks can't stream HD podcasts. No idea why. I'm in NY on Time Warner.

not happy

All these posts describe the same problem i am having with my Apple TV BUT no one seems to have a solution and I dont see Apple posting any info, I am going to take my Apple TV back to the Apple store for a refund in protest, suggest you all do the same :apple:

I was having the same issue and was very frustrated. I saw a huge difference by switching to Google's DNS servers (8.8.8.8) instead of my ISP's. May be worth a shot.

It worked!

Finally an answer to this thread and it worked for me thank you!
Went into apple tv settings then general network
Configure manually
Changed only the dns to 8.8.8.8 And now the streaming starts faster

Facebook Group creation for slow apple TV

Is anyone interested in creating a Facebook group for this?

ATV2 is horrible with downloads. I can't watch movies I rent due too slow streaming. I have a PS3 that works fine so it is not my network or ISP. No more using ATV. Going to rent movies through PS3 and my MBP (Netflix). Waste of $99.

Also changed the DNS to 8.8.8.8 after it froze one quarter way through movie. Then it told me 1.5 hours for it ready to play. Can't finish watching it tonight. I think it is a crappy product and I am a big Apple fan.

ATV2 -- Movies are unusable

As a happy ATV1 user and generally a Mac fan, I'm surprised at how bad the experience is trying to watch a movie via the device-- I had learned from hard experience that with kids in the house asking for the HD movie on Apple TV (gen 1) was asking for a lot of whining, but that the stnd def was acceptable and would start in just a few mins; now with ATV2, there is no SD option and the HD takes over an hour, sometimes two, which is just not comparable to Netflix or even Amazon -- come'on Apple, fix this, go to streaming -- it's embarrassing.
