Only showing Summary and Photo Tabs - Apple TV

Good Evening,

I have the same situation as several in this thread of wanting to stream music and sync photos however when I go to my Apple TV device I only have two tabs, Summary and Photo. In the Photo tab I only have options showing "Share Photo From". I do not have any options for "Syncing".

My music is working fine (streaming) but when the photo's begin they are the default Apple TV photos, not mine. When I first set up the system I synced both photos and music and all worked fine, however due the size of my iTunes library, I can no long store it on the Apple TV so that is why I decided to try this avenue but I stumped.

A second question, when in a "streaming and syncing" environment, will it be normal for my music to stop streaming when I move from Music to Photo in the Apple TV menu. Before when I used syncing for both music and photo moving between menus did not stop my music.

Thanks,

WRICKB

This means your iTunes account is not set up as the (as in "only one") syncing account. It is set up as a streaming account. You need to add a syncing account from your Apple TV, then type in the 5 digit code into your iTunes account to set it as the syncing computer. Then you should get the remaining tabs.

Can I resurect this old thread as I am having a similar problem?

I want to sync music and photos and stream movies. It has been working fine for ages but notice that streaming has stopped working since I installed iTunes 9.

On the computers page of the Apple TV my library is greyed out. To try to fix the problem I selected this and disconnected from my library and then tried to connect again. I entered the code and waited a couple of hours while all my music synced again but the library remained greyed out at the end of the process and I am still unable to stream movies.

Can anyone suggest a solution please?

Mac and apple newbie

Sorry to revive this topic, i must be dead stupid but i can't get things working
1. I want to sync my movies and photo's but stream my music (from the same imac)

2. i put on my atv 'connect to itunes' and paired my itunes with it. I checked custom syncing, and unchecked the 'Show only the synced Items on my apple tv'

I sync, then i want to connect to my itunes to stream.
so i walk to my atv and tell him 'add shared library'. Back on my Imac, it says are you sure, all you're synced stuff is going away .

I say yes , and then I can stream, but nothing is synced anymore.

Do I understand well from your topic that i should only do the first step i.e. 'connect to itunes ', sync what i want to sync and the rest will then stream ?

Excuse me for my (maybe in your eyes) stupid question. I am since a few months a completed convert (from window to Mac and overenthusiastic except for one thing : the manuals delivered by the machines. But then there are wonderfull forums like thisone ! Thanks in advance

Dirk

You were finished at step 2.

'Connect to iTunes' is a superset of 'Add Shared Library', ie: 'Connect' does everything 'Add' does plus more.

Yes.

itunes not updating

In my scenario, when I have my Apple TV connected, the photo album quantities in iTunes don't match the quantities in iPhoto. For instance, one of my albums says 120 photos in iTunes, but in iPhoto, has 243. This also affects the synching to my iPhone and iPad. Any thoughts?
