I have used that. Nice app but it still requires that you Airplay from the iDevice to the ATV3. Seems to me that the Synology approach is better in that it seems to AirPlay directly from the NAS to the ATV3. You can always DLNA from the NAS to something like a Sony GTV box.

Of course the best way is to simply use mp4 containers in the first place.

ATV2 are going for like $400 where I am, not to mention taking a hit on the ATV3.....

I use my atv3 for homesharing and movies. Oh and chinese youtube.

You need to learn math. They are not equally price ATM.

I know enough Maths to know that in the UK at least, 2nd Gen Apple TV's are the same price if not cheaper than the Apple TV 3rd Gen.

The thing is its not easy to find a apple tv 2 these days, people know if your explicit looking for a aTV2 its for jailbreak hence the price bump.

I know here they go at 200-230usd.
