Damn! I live in Loughborough and wish I'd seen your thread earlier! I could've gone down this morning and checked the 27" beast out but I assumed it would be several days before the stores had them in.

How big was the box by the way and how much bigger does the screen look compared to the old 24" ones? Also, any indication of how many they had in stock?

Cheers. :)

they had around 10 in stock, i took one and my boss took another so would of been 8 left... the box is quite long (sorry no tape measure to hand) but had no problem getting both in the boot but it was a range rover. on my desk there is a massive difference compared to the 24" really am surprised and happy with it, the definition is just superb....just looking at the coloured buttons in safari and they seem so much higher clarity, LED does make a massive difference.

Thanks for the reply mate. I was already impressed with the image quality of the old iMacs - photos looked amazingly realistic - so I can't wait to see the new screens for myself.

I still can't believe Apple released a 27" model. Completely unexpected. I wanted to get the old 24" but needed a higher resolution. Getting an additional external monitor - even the 24" ACD - just wouldn't match properly aesthetically in my opinion. So the higher resolution on the 27" is just what I've been waiting for.

Although if Apple DID release a new 27" ACD in the future.......Hehe ;)

I still don't understand why Apple didn't hold an event for the new iMacs and Magic Mouse. They both deserved one! Can't wait to play around with them myself.

Cheers. :)
