I’ve been Word and Excel free for several months now. Very liberating.I use Keynote and Pages regularly instead of Powerpoint and Word. The only reason I use Word at all is that most users are in either Google Docs or Word.
They work really well through the iCloud web portal too if you need to use a PC to do some editing or other work from time to time.I exclusively use the iWork suite. They’re more streamlined and intuitive than the monstrosities that Microsoft makes and I try not to use Google for anything if I can help it. It also helps that they are fully featured on iPad when MS Office and G Suite are (imo intentionally) nerfed for iPad.
Yes, it was all rather weird. Mine updated today while I was out, and when I came back my Wi-Fi wouldn't work even though it showed as connected and was working on my other devises. Restarting put my iMac into an endless shutdown with a spinning coloured wheel. I forced it off using the switch on the back, switched it back on again and all was well. But the Pages, Keynote and Numbers apps don't show in Updated Recently even though they have been...*And* for some reason, they don't show up in the "Updated Recently" section, even though they've been updated, you know, recently.
executives are busy with Hollywood TV and Movie stuff
👆🏻 That! Every time I try to use iWorks I run into one limitation after another. They’re good apps but I’d like some stronger page layout features. Whenever I use Pages I always bump into a limitation. My most recent example was inserting a multi page PDF. Pages should have the option to automatically insert all pages, not just the first.
FREAKING FINALLY.
I actually think it has to do with colours. I find I do have issues with TextEdit and text colours. Example: Choose white text in dark mode and that can translate to white text on white background in other apps. Those kinds of issues. With a standard white background, you don't have any of them. Now if only Pages had proper support for macOS Dark Mode. 😩
I'm not surprised it doesn't really support it since it's a program meant for corporate settings (when was the last time respectable office workers used dark mode on everything?), but even a relatively basic word processing program like TextEdit has full support for Dark Mode, so it's strange that Pages doesn't.
