Apple vs. Alienware???

they are both considered "high-end" notebooks, thus the comparison.

You are going to get very bias answers, with this being a MAC related site.
I will NEVER buy a pc again, not since I switched to the mac 5 years ago
But if you want those windoze laptops, go for them. I personally think they suck, mainly because of windoze
And besides, the MBP may not have as good graphics and what not, and that alienware may be a little better for games, but HAVE YOU SEEN THE SIZE OF THOSE THINGS THEY ARE HIDEOUS!!!!!

Here's the lowdown:
If you're looking for an intense gaming laptop, then obviously Alienware would be the better choice simply because it comes with XP and I don't think anyone can deny the fact that most games are written for XP, not OS X because of the market share.
Simple numbers.
However, If you want a laptop for more than just gaming, I would suggest shopping around, because apple has an ace up it's sleeve - bootcamp. Which means that you can play all your Windows games on your Mac at full speed. Only disadvantage is that all the kinks aren't yet all worked out...yet.
It's an odd comparison though, to be sure. I would consider the MBP more of you know, a PROFESSIONAL laptop than a gaming right, considering it's in the name

those are two very different computers targeted for different markets. it is to my understanding that alienware systems are built for games. they dont mind a bulkier laptop since it allows them to put higher performing hardware inside. the mac focuses on a balance between performance and size.

Lets reverse things here. If alienware was the one using osx and the macbook pro only ran windows i would buy the alienware. I hate windows.

It easier to take a laptop to a land party. Some one who needs portablity in the computer but the full power of a desktop. It set up for pure power not for long battery life. It built to be plug in most of the time. College students could make use of it. Not in taking it to class but having that raw power setting on there desk and they can easily take it home with them for breaks and what not.
It not ment to be taken everyone with them. But possible to move it around to different locations with relitivly easy and little extra stuff. Let see pack the power cord and mouse and everything else for gaming already there. Light enough to take with them to places.
Just have to remember here in the Mac world gaming is suppose to be a No No Blame it on lame hardware,blame it on lame ports, blame it on Windows. Still its interesting how many MacHeads visit the games section here at Rumors for such a taboo. Lets face it hardware wise the dual SLI m9700 has the juice.
