You're really late to the party. There are dozens of cases and bumpers already available for the apple watch.

This is the stupidest thing I have EVER seen.

Why oh why do you need a case for your watch?

Oh that's right, because its a watch made by an electronics company and people who buy electronics love cases.

I will recant my position on this when someone shows me their $8,000 Rolex Stainless Steel with a stupid case on it.

What's the advantage of this over a simple TPU skin? You can buy those right now and they provide the same protection as far as I can see. Probably better.

Stay out of the forum then. There are already a ton of useless posts like yours with these ass-backwards rolex analogies.

Thanks Emily, though there are plenty bumper cases available, this one looks very different from the rest. May have to check it out.

The JETech Apple Watch Case is an already-made product selling for a fraction ($6.99 with Amazon Prime Shipping) of that campaign price.

I can also tell you from experience that glass screen protectors, while the best protection out there, does not look nice on a curved-edge display like the Apple Watch. It's best to use something like the ArmorSuit MilitaryShield that covers the whole screen to the rounded edges.

Actually, that analogy wouldn't be backward at all, but rather reality. I have never seen a snap on case for a watch. ANY WATCH but smartwatches. why?

Because Jony Ive is an artist and not a good designer.
Other watches are built to last or cheap enough to be disposable or repairable.
A 10-year old Rolex (everyone's favorite comparison for some reason) will show minimal damage and be worth more than you paid for it when new.
A 10-month old Apple Watch will be worth 2/3 of what you paid if it's still pristine and judging by all the threads so far -- that will be far from likely.
A 10-year old Apple Watch won't be worth anything except maybe to a collector.
Citizen, Seiko, Breitling, all of these are designed to be more durable than the Apple Watch.
I get that for many people on here, the Apple Watch is considered to be disposable but for many, many more, it isn't.

When Apple starts making TVs and cars, people on here will want to buy cases and protective covers for them.. lol

You have valid points, but the case is only going to protect from external scratches, not water. External scratches on any watch will devalue it. A 10 month old Apple Watch will be worth 2/3 what you paid for it regardless of scratches.

I guess I just don't get it.

So Jony Ive makes paintings for Apple, and not design sleek, thin computers, phones, and other devices?

ALL watches get dings and scratches. Steel is steel. I have many watches that have wear on them, just like a fancy expensive pair of shoes...they get worn in and can't stay mint condition forever. None of the points you make justify cases on one over the other. But I understand that most people have the same mentality as phones/tablets...have never really worn a watch, so they want to baby the watch the same way. It is a piece of electronics but it is a fashion accessory as well. Some see it as only one or the other. I'm not pulling my watch out of my pocket as I walk on the concrete...and I know what the expect when wearing a watch for many years, so I can care less about a bulky case or bumper. But to each their own

Couldn't have said it better myself. I think you are spot on.

This is the first piece of tech from Apple that cross over into a wearable/luxury market. Those of us who have worn watches for years love the fact that this device with a $700 price tag for a stainless model at least has a sapphire face. I find this product to be well made for the money and love to wear it. I would never put a case on it. Its a watch...

Others who do not wear watches but love Apple products bought it and instantly see it as tech first... need case... resell for better one... wait for updates... waiting for jailbreak...concerned about specs...oh and why does this thing cost so much?!?! when can I get it on contract for $199??

Not bashing either side, just an observation by me who loves tech and luxury watches.

Dings and scratches are one thing but there are people on here who have had their watches destroyed after washing their hands. Yes I've seen the videos where people wore them swimming and I know these are anomalies but still.
A scratch on an other watch crystal is no big deal. It doesn't really impact the watches usage. You live with it or you repair it. And you have options for repairing it.
But this is a touch screen device that utilizes a proprietary system.
If you don't want to protect your watch that's perfectly fine.
But don't denigrate those that do.

Look at the Omega watch below. The most vulnerable part of the watch is the glass and it is surrounded by a thick stainless steel "cushion".

The Apple watch's design offers no protection for its glass as the steel "cushion" barely exists in it's design. This is why people are putting their Apple watches in a case.

What are you talking about? The stainless steal will be scratched. That means the watch is not protected.

Stainless Steel doesn't need protection. Any scratch, nick or ding can easily be buffed/polished out.

Aluminum (like in the Sport watch) is not repairable. If you scratch the casing you have to live with it.

My biggest concern is how vulnerable and exposed the actual glass is on the Apple watch. Traditional watch casings like the one I posted can deflect blows away from the glass but since the Apple watch casing and glass are flush with each other It's likely an accidental blow can also damage the glass.

Unnecessary for daily use, unless you have a job like carpentry, machine tooling, etc.

But for me, I need a protective case for rare instances where I do sports like snowboarding.

I bought this and finally got to try it with my watch.

http://www.ebay.com/itm/32175211286...49&var=510658232090&ssPageName=STRK:MEBIDX:IT

The fit was good but it did make the crown hard to access.
There's also no cutouts for the band release buttons so you've got to pry open the case at the band slits if you ever want to change bands. The TPU does have enough flex to allow this though.
My biggest complaint is that the pics show the case as having a matte finish (I bough the non-transparent black) but the actual product was very shiny. I just didn't like the way it changed the look of my watch.
Other than that it seems to offer decent protection at a bargain price.

If someone starts a thread about a case, bumper or some other form of watch protection. Why do people see the need to argue against them ?

Just stay off the thread !

Let the people who are interested in protection products discuss them, and you stop trying to convince people they are wrong to want one.

Opinions people, we are all entitled to one.

Now I would be on board with a plastic type case that quickly covers the watch for swimming or showering that could be removed when finished...... Hmmm
