Mandatory fast charge = They want to get that 80 buck battery replacement fee every year. My series 5 bought on launch day is still holding with 85% battery health after almost 4 years. That's what the standard charging speed gets you!

Those Apple Watches are sure durable. A relative of mine was still using my AW3 I gave them (after I used it for 2 years) - up till a few months ago when it popped its top case.

This from the company that sold me a $129 watch travel charger that cannot fast charge my apple watch that came out at the same time. A charger that subsequently stopped to work just past the one year mark.

If fast charging your watch was a requirement, why did you buy that charger?

I dont think it existed til series 7
This, the series 6 introduced new charging hardware to speed up charging (flatten the charging curve), but it didn't need a new charger. Series 7 introduced Fast Charging with the new charger, which is faster than the 6 but it mostly speeds up the <50% charging rate.

Still waiting for AirPower from Apple.

Considering Apple has shifted to using magnets for alignment, I doubt that’s coming.

I think “fast charging” here is not what folks usually think of as fast charging. At 5 watts, it’s only “fast” when compared to a charger eking out .5-1 watt (charging for the first Apple Watches). 5 watts isn’t something that’s going to significantly degrade the battery, not like “fast charging” phone chargers.

Isn’t fast charging better than the “benefit” of random placement charging? And what about vertical / portrait charging vs desktop flat charging? The Belkin 3 way charger makes a lot of sense as both the iPhone and Watch charge in a position that makes their screens easily viewable, while the AirPods case can charge flat since there is no screens to view.

After years of my wife refusing to wear her series 5 AW at night, when it finally stopped charging just a few weeks ago, I got her a new series 8 and she’s been wearing it and loving tracking her sleep. She now just sets the AW on the fast charger while she’s getting ready in the morning and doesn’t have to wait for it to charge fully or worry that it would die during the day. Apple pushing for all Watch chargers to be fast is the way that they make charging less of a problem.

got to admit I have two belkin MagSafe chargers and neither have fast charging for Apple Watch and it is annoying. sadly not even an update can fix it.

Is it just me or does it seem like the regular Apple Watch chargers get it to 85% in 45 mins?🤷‍♂️ I’ve never felt a need to look into fast charging.

I think it's for people who want to track their sleep so want to wear their watch 23.5 hours per day (just charge it while showering/dressing.

Also if I take a break day my watch basically lasts forever (I take it off to sleep). Most days my workout drains the battery and so the watch needs a spell on the charger at my desk to make it to bedtime.

Is Belkin the only manufacturer using C962 in a power bank today?

Is anyone making a short (1ft or shorter) charging cable with C962?
