Anyone with a 44mm S4 have issues with Apple’s watch dock?
Last night my watch was periodically stopping and starting charging. After trying a few things I noticed that because the body of the watch is bigger now (2mm) when the dock is in nightstand mode the watch doesn’t sit perfectly center on the magnet. If I fold the mount down to lay flat everything works fine.

Anyone else have this issue?

I have the spigen watch stand and my SBSS has been doing that exact thing. It’s been driving me nuts.

So as I was sleeping my watch started to vibrate off and on.

mklg2am/a - seems to be the old part number which is no longer listed on the Apple page

Mu9g2am/a is listed on the Apple page

I’m wondering the same thing. But from what I’ve read other people are having charging issues in 5.0.1. It does look to me that the new watch is not center on the dock when flipped up. But the site lists it as series 4 compatible.
[doublepost=1538847566][/doublepost]I want to provide an early update. While there is a thread about the issues as I stated, when I laid my watch down on the dock instead of using it folded up it appears to be charging normally as of now. Before it kept dinging over and over and got pretty warm. I will be reaching out to Apple. They should not be marketing the dock to S4 owners if it doesn’t work right. I use a sport loop band, so if I can’t use the dock upright it serves no purpose to me as I’m not going to release one of the lugs every time it needs charging.

Looking at the series 1-3 puck the bowl of the new puck is definitely different.

Last night it charged fine upright on the dock. I don’t know what is going on.

I think the S4 is a little more sensitive to placement. I have the official white Apple dock and once or twice it’s been playing the charge sound over and over put picking it up and putting it back sorted it.

Do you manage to reach out to Apple and get any additional information? I thought I was imagining things but have noticed my series 4 randomly display the charging animation throughout the night as if it’s just been placed on.

Now I am getting nervous after all these replies so far mine has been working I keep checking it looks like it’s charging fine so far but I will keep an eye on it. I did notice though the pucks are definitely different.

Yes I believe on a recent episode of Connected this came up - works fine when flat but elevated the size difference is enough to push the charger off the right placement.

There is clearly a difference in the form/shape of the S4 watch back and the (original) charger. You have to be a bit more conscious in how you place the watch on the charger when vertical. I have the SBSS link bracelet, i.e. I am charging it on the original charging dock in a vertical position and if not placed carefully it will not charge.

That’s what I’m finding. It works, but you now have to be careful with placement. That somewhat defeats what I liked so much about the dock (it was so effortless it seemed like my watch never needed charging) but I’m still using it.

It’s so weird I still just drop mine on with puck up and watch on its side with no issues! Very weird especially with multiple people having problems.

i noticed this last night with a combination wireless charger for iphone and apple watch (upright). Hopefully apple can make it less sensitive.

Has anyone noticed when charging upright that the charger and watch itself can get quite warm? It doesn’t happen all the time, only sometimes. It never happened with my series 3.

Haven't had any issues with mine. Must be a minor fix since they seem to be quietly releasing a new one. Maybe the outer limit of manufacturing specs didn't work with the 44?

An update, I started to miss having a dock, but wasn't going to rebuy a $79 dock I already bought. Thought about buying one of those combination docks for both phone and watch, since I thought I was going to have to spend around that much for a decent dock, but I already have a charging pad and didn't find it necessary to replace. Found out about the Belkin Watch Valet dock, and Amazon has it for $29 so I bought one. Multiple users report compatibility with the S4 44mm, and so did Belkin on my question I asked there.
