When I’m outside with cellular without my phone, my S7 dies after 6h. It definitely needs a larger battery or a better LTE chip.
So that's only 2 hours less than your iPhone in similar circumstances 😊
Besides, it's not designed to be a continuous stand alone, although it would be nice if it lasted at least 8 hrs on Cellular only, a more efficient processor and LTE is the only way to improve that though, I have a feeling, we may just se an extra 2 hrs on S9 🤞

Mine was stuck at 81% for a long long time and Apple wouldn't replace it even if it couldn't hold a charge for a full day. I went on vacation and left my AW fully discharged for many days. When I came back it was down to 77% and Apple finally agreed to replace it for the standard battery replacement fee. Actually, they don't replace the battery... they send you a new watch instead. So you have to be below 80%.
Good Tip 👍🏻

Samsung has a watch since last year that does blood perdure measurements, technology is there, just not sure it meets Apple's standards yet.
"an approximate but in the ballpark blood glucose reading" - that doesn't cut it, Type 1 diabetics need accurate readings to determine Insulin intake, and for a Type 2 it doesn't do anything either ... and for those reasons, , in the US these type of continuous blood glucose device are FDA regulated and Apple is highly unlikely to go down that path with the AW.
It's not very accurate to say the least, some phone apps are more accurate for blood pressure, but this year, they've introduced Biometrics, which is something I'd like to see on an AW

Apple has the specs right on their website for perusal. The SS and Ultra have several material differences.
I'm well aware of the differences, including cutting your finger on the edges, not enough for me to prefer the Ultra brick Though 😊

Nah. Don't like the looks of the SS as much as Aluminum, it is considerably heavier, plus the body actually scratches more and is less durable. I don't need Cellular (which SS now requires) nor want to pay basically twice as much since Aluminum are usually discounted more heavily besides being $300 less to begin with. On top of that SS doesn't offer a Nike+ version. The Ultra is way too bulky for me. I just want the sapphire crystal display instead of Ion-X on the aluminum body, go ahead and charge me $50 more (even though it costs Apple about $2 more).
😳 Don't know where you get your info from?, but you've certainly never had or used a Stainless Steel, you're only right about it being slightly heavier 🤣

that is what I have heard, about the accuracy of the Samsung watch and blood pressure, but, introduced a year ago and in technology that's a long time. So, the technology is there ...

What sensors are there that Apple Watch doesn’t have yet that other smart watches have got and that are accurate (talking Samsung blood glucose here)
Can’t think what else we could have in it!
Samsung does NOT have blood glucose, they have blood pressure ...

My spouse has both SS & aluminum, he wears the SS all the time for the look. He has noticed that on the lighter aluminum he can feel the vibrations more. I assume that’s because the insides are the same but with less mass it’s easier to feel the haptic vibrations… 👍🏻

and it looks like the new S6 doesn't have it anymore, blood pressure that is, wonder why

the word on the street was not very accurate, and, I just looked at the new S6 to learn about their biometric sensor - they don't seem to be offering blood pressure anymore ...
But, the point is, the technology is there, here's an example:
So a few points: 1) No FDA certification yet, 2) €800 to €1000, 3) Likely ongoing costs for cloud monitoring, 4) Patents tied up in current company 5) Already the size of a small Apple Watch. To me I don’t see the technology as being “there” yet as no one has it as part of a Watch. If and when Apple gets this right, I’ll say it’s there… 🤞🏻

Why are you soooo against the battery life being extended?
Because I understand that there are tradeoffs to every engineering decision. The Apple Watch is a tiny hardware package, and there are only two ways to improve battery life with current battery technology: larger batteries or using less power. So unless they make the product larger, which is difficult to do for a wearable, they can't make the battery any larger than it already is. But lucky for us, they've already managed to squeeze an entire day's worth of battery out of the Apple Watch, which is all any such product needs to achieve. Anything beyond that has no real purpose, and is not worth compromising the device for. With a new chip based on A15, it could be more powerful, or it could be more efficient. Generally once Apple hits all day battery life, they use the performance leaps in new chips to drive new features, which equal out to the same battery life, rather than not doing those features and getting more raw battery life. That is of course the right decision. Not for people who want to be lazy and forget to charge their watch while they sleep. But for everyone else.

Boo that's a shame :(
I'm still rocking the Series 4 and have been waiting out on a new design.

I think the only thing that would sway me would a *much* better battery, not sure we'll see that though..
👆 Came here to say I’m a humble bragger and never impressed enough… crash detection alone (life saving) is plenty reason to hand down a five year old watch to someone and upgrade what you probably spend on biscuits and tea a week.

Get a Stainless Steel for the scratch protection or the Ultra for both 😊
I have never had any marks or scratches on my stainless steel watches, after my first aluminium, would never buy one again!
Every part of the Stailess Steel or Ultra is top quality.
You get what you pay for my friend 😊
I had scratch/crack on my AW6 SS and Apple said it's cosmetic damage not covered by AC+.

Major changes are probably reserved for the 10th anniversary Apple watch next year!
I also suspect we might be seeing an iPhone / iPhone pro paradigm here.

We may have come to a point where Apple Watch functionality is currently considered "good enough" for the majority of users and any further features would simply be over-serving Apple's current user base. Just like how the current iPhone 13 / 14 seems like Apple saying "This represents our baseline iPhone experience, and if you think you need or want more, get the pro model instead".

So if you want additional features like cellular, more battery life or better fitness tracking capabilities, that's where the Apple Watch Ultra comes in. Which makes sense, because the Ultra is also overkill for most Apple Watch users.
