Yeah I'm not having any luck getting watchOS 3 to show up.

My buddy is a dev, has an account, and tossed me the profile file. My phone is on iOS 10, but despite the watch profile taking, it's not giving me the option to upgrade to 3.

Maybe he needs to register my phone's UDID on his dev account?
I didn't think he'd need to because he didn't have to in order for me to pick up the iOS 10 beta 1 on my phone.

(I promise to submit bug reports! DON'T TAZE ME BARRACKSSI!!!)

Have a read earlier in the thread. Seems you'll need to reset settings on watch, then install the WatchOS profile (on the watch). After that you should see the update

Yeah that's what I did. Restored watch to factory, set up as new, installed profile to watch, restarted, looked for update.

No dice :(

Well that's odd indeed. I'm afraid I don't why that's not working for you

I think you're fibbing.
Check the carrot weather thread in the watch apps subforum. Screenshots of my watch with time and date running. I'm guessing you're doing something wrong. Make sure you are installing the WatchOS profile (not the iOS one) and make sure you're installing it to the watch (not the phone). Good luck ;)

Downgrading back to 9.3.2 from 10 with a possible jailbreak on the horizon...Watch is already on 3, so I'm wondering the same thing myself. Will it pair with a 9.3.2 phone?

It needs iOS 10. It won't work on iOS 9.3.2, as people found out back when watchOS2 was in beta and iOS 9 beta.

I downgraded my phone from 10 b1 to 9.3.3 b3 last night via the Option+Update method with the 9.3.3 ipsw....this way I saved all my data. (Going on vacation and need a stable phone for pics and what not)

Watch is still connected but you cannot access the Watch app at all. You also get a notification right away saying that your phone software is outdated. When you tap on the Watch app it stays at the Software Update screen. All the Watch OS 3 functions still work. I have successfully received texts and mail, but all my activity is gone from the phone app. Phone and Watch still show a connection.

Just an FYI. I will upgrade again with Beta 2 on Tuesday.

you guys inquiring about iOS 10 and watchOS 3

you don't need to be a developer per se. you just need the corresponding configuration profiles for iOS 10 and watchOS 3, which are usually dev only access. however, if you scour the internet and find them and install them, they will work without a dev account.

I'm running both, and can't say either are worth it now.

Next Tuesday? I assume you are just assuming it will be out next Tuesday based on history?

So is this a new thing, because I know for a fact that nobody was able to install non-public wOS 2 betas unless they were a paid developer?

False. I was running watchOS 2 betas just fine without a paid dev account. (2.0, 2.1, 2.2)
[doublepost=1466711404][/doublepost]
Perhaps. I never tried to install a non-public OS 2 beta so I don't know if the same method works/worked

Same methods worked with watchOS 2.0, 2.1, 2.2. I ran them all.

Your only option is to put your phone back to iOS 10 since your watch is on watchOS 3 and it's most up to date backup is for watchOS 3.

This is why there is no public beta for watchOS and people shouldn't just install it to "try it out".

The only way to revert your watch is to send it to Apple. But then since you can't use a backup from a newer OS on an older OS, you lose all the data. (Or at least all data gained since updating to watchOS. Restore from backup usually contains the last 2-3 backups if it hasn't deleted old ones yet)

so if i at least restore it ill get everything back either way?

im gonna wait for dev beta 2 and install that and see if it is any better than beta 1.

i have a backup iPhone 5s on iOS 10 beta 1. what if i pair it to the watch under the same apple id in the mean time then switch it to the iPhone 6 once its up and running on iOS 10 again

Once your phone is back on iOS 10 and you go to re-pair the watch. It will ask if you want to restore the watch from a backup. It should show whatever newest backup your watch did while on watchOS 3 and paired to the iOS 10 iPhone. (Normally it backs up when it gets un-paired, but who knows if that happened when the watch un-paired due to iOS 9 not being compatible.)

thanks. what about if i pair it like i said to the iPhone 5s on iOS 10 for the sake of restoring it, then when beta 2 comes out, pairing it to the other phone. is the watch able to retain its data across different devices? i assume this would work just like as if someone upgraded their phone.

or the other option is to upgrade the 6 to beta 1 then repair the watch, then downgrade again. also, last time i downgraded, the music app messed up. did yours do the same thing?

I don't know how pairing to different phones all works. Never done it or do I have multiple iPhones to do it.

I've never downgraded my iOS 10 beta. It runs good on my iPhone 6. (Last time I've ever downgraded from beta was iOS 9.1 beta 1 to 9.0.2 release.)

It's beta. It's expected to have less than top battery performance. I don't use maps often enough, but no issues when I have used it. Beta bugs don't bother me, because that what you willingly sign up for when installing. Nothing in iOS 10 and watchOS 3 beta lessens the usability for me.

How's your iOS 10 battery life? Mine was horrific.

Battery life isn't the greatest, but again, like many people have stated, this is beta software. I downloaded both knowing that there was a possibility that there would be issues. All in all, I'm really enjoying both the phone and the watch on beta, a few little quirks notwithstanding.

I just want to come back to this and say you were NOT fibbing, after all.

I am a god damned fool and was installing the iOS beta config profile to my watch, rather than the separate and completely different watchOS beta config profile.

God damn it...

Thanks :)
