Magic Mouse + a customizing app such as BetterTouchTool = bliss. For version 3 it would be great if Apple incorporated some of the settings like BetterTouchTool gives you (left or right clicking by tap, mapping for two and three-finger taps) into their control panel and supported additional gestures such as pinch / spread. And improve the sensor stack has others have mentioned. It's completely outdone by Microsoft mice of several years ago in terms of surface support and has actually been getting worse with age.

I personally think charging port under a mouse is a well thought marketing effort. It’s not a dealbreaker but makes soo many people talking about it.

It blows my mind that they weren’t able to get the new design together for their change to USB-C.

Quick question, does it still wrk to grab a SN from Craigslist and co of a colored iMac and then order a colored Mouse/Trackpad/Keyboard via support?

I must be in the great minority. I likes the Magic Mouse just fine as is.
I'm inclined to agree. The charging port on the bottom just doesnt matter except in the rare case that you forget to plug in just once every couple of month and then it dies when you're in the middle of something.

Everything else is good for everything except gaming but I don't think anyone is using it for that anyway.

And if Apple did change the location of the charging port those same people would find something else to b**ch about. It’s what they do for a living.

TBH I'm quite happy with my magic mouse, but give me a MX Master with the capacitive touch of the Magic Mouse (for scrolling in all directions etc) and I'll take it.

There is definitely a market for a “Magic Mouse Pro” that has some customization abilities, a true clickable scroll wheel and a more comfortable design like the MX Master. Then again, there’s also a big market for a Magic Trackpad pro with Apple Pencil support.

Both options seem like no brainers.
My only complaint with the mouse is that it doesn’t have gesture parity with the trackpad.

I’m a pro user (developer) on both Mac and windows, and the MM is by far the most comfortable and nicest mouse to use - and our company has supplied us with a wide array to use at various times. The charging situation is a nothing burger. Just go and get a cup coffee.

It is actually easier than we think, with how bloated and invasive the Logi Options+ software has become.
I like my MXs but did not install the Logi Options SW as I have the same concern as you regarding its invasiveness.

But if the MX Master already exists, what would be the point of Apple making an Apple-branded one in white, which is essentially what you're describing? People in that market should just buy the MX Master. I'll never understand this about those still complaining about the Magic Mouse. There are so many other options.

I tend to lean into the “form follows function” philosophy. Unfortunately, Apple’s mouse seems to embody the opposite: a “function follows form” approach. It’s undeniably beautiful, almost sculptural, but this comes at the cost of usability and practicality.

I hope all the Magic Mouse apologists keep the older versions of the Magic Mouse with the charging port on the bottom as long as they can, since they think this design is acceptable.😁

My hand orthopaedist told me to get a Logi MX Vertical for my wrist pain. I haven't had any since I switched. Trackballs are good too, but the MX Vertical is great. They're often on sale refurb as well.
try the lift - it is better - the plastic on the MX Vertical gets sticky overtime

Apple's fix: display Dynamic Island notifications around the mouse natural orifice.

My wife's got a cheap Logitech mouse (the 310 I think), while I use an MX Master 3 (first with my Macs, now with my new iPad Air).

Apple's more than a bit late to the party with this. I can see Apple die hards going for it, but for everyone else, I'm betting they either have a Logitech of some sort, or something else that's "good enough".

2026, lol... how long does it take to redesign something as simple as a mouse?

if you ask me, the keyboards should be redesigned as well, they are among the least comfortable keyboards i've ever used. And if you want touch id, you are forced to use this abomination.
