Hi all, just wanted to share my frustration with Apple with you, to see if I am overreacting or if I am not alone.

I feel like Apple is going downhill (quality vise) after loss of Steve. Here is why I think this way:

- Updates. I used to always install iOS updates as soon as they would come out, but not anymore. New updates started to always come with new bugs, all the time. So I am now waiting for a few month or more, before I dare to install new update (unless previous iOS is so bad, that it it hard to imagine that Apple can make it worse) and I always google what kind of issues people have with these updates. At times I am not installing them at all, having to live with every-day reminders from Apple that new update is available.. reminders that cannot be disabled - WTF?

- Ringtones. If you buy a new phone and set it up as new (I do not like the idea of restoring back-ups of old phones to the new ones) - every bloody time there would be an issue with ringtones. For years now. You paid for ringtones, but you can't just re-download them - WTF, Apple? How many years would it take for you to fix this glitch?! Why is it inherited by every new iOS that gets released?

- iPhone 7. My MBA 2011 measures Wi-Fi speed at 120/10 Mbs, while iPhone 7 measures it at 20/2 Mbs. at the same spot. WTF? Why is it became impossible to release the phone or iOS without issues with Wi-Fi, which it would take ages to fix (keep in mind the situation with lost trust to updates)?!

- Facetime. We (my wife and I) use(d) Facetime to talk to each other when I am travelling. Facetime has become an utter nightmare - very unstable and unpredictable. Sometimes calling via Facetime using phone number does not work at all, making calls using e-mail works better but still unstable and often unusable. We got to the point that we started using Skype - WTF?! Why Skype works fine and Facetime doesn't? Apple, have you became dumber than Microsoft?!

- iOS. iOS became a collection of never-ending bugs... my current iOS (10.0.3) has a bug with touchscreen. Either a part of the screen or the entire screen becomes unresponsive to touch. Thank God I figured how to do hard reset (press and hold VolumeUP+VolumeDown+Power). After hard reset it starts to work fine again. Apple, when will you stop using your customers as bug testers?

- Innovation. What innovation? I feel like innovation is long dead in Apple.

- El Capitan. I have not even used it, because some idiot decided that disc utility should not have RAID functionality. Hey, dear customers, here is new OS for you, which is incapable of doing what you do with your current OS. This was just beyond ridiculous.

I could have continued, but I am afraid my post already has grown out of proportions... So what do you think, am I totally over-reacting or not?

I feel like Apple is going downhill (quality vise) after loss of Steve. Here is why I think this way:

Steve Jobs is dead. Apple is still here. They're still operating in basically the same fashion that they always have.

You have bad luck. I very rarely have issues with updates. I think iOS 5 or 6 was really the last time I had an actual issue.

Like really bad luck. Ringtones work fine for me.

My iPhone 7+ isn't here yet, but my family all has iPhone 7. They work fine on my wifi.

I don't use FaceTime much but I've never, ever, had it not work.

- iOS. iOS became a collection of never-ending bugs... my current iOS (10.0.3) has a bug with touchscreen. Either a part of the screen or the entire screen becomes unresponsive to touch. Thank God I figured how to do hard reset (press and hold VolumeUP+VolumeDown+Power). After hard reset it starts to work fine again. Apple, when will you stop using your customers as bug testers?

Back to bad luck again? Seriously this kind of a rehash of your update complaint session.

- Innovation. What innovation? I feel like innovation is long dead in Apple.

You're just all over the place. Apple hasn't always innovated. They've hit a higher than average number of home runs, but they've struck out quite a few times too.

- El Capitan. I have not even used it, because some idiot decided that disc utility should not have RAID functionality. Hey, dear customers, here is new OS for you, which is incapable of doing what you do with your current OS. This was just beyond ridiculous.

I'm going to go out on a limb and state that you're probably in the minority. Most Mac users don't care about RAID.

I could have continued, but I am afraid my post already has grown out of proportions... So what do you think, am I totally over-reacting or not?

Yeah you're overreacting. But if you're unhappy, buy something else.

Personally, I think Apple is coasting on Steves legacy. They seem more obsessed with fashion/trends Then making cool stuff. Tim cares more about profit then making a good product.... etc. Apple knows people will buy literally anything they make and right now, it's working, but it will only last so long before people wake up.

Steve Jobs was Apple and Apple was Steve Jobs...

I don't think Apple is coasting on Steves legacy. I think they're still struggling after Steve's passing. Like all good things though, there is that inevitable moment where it takes a loss and what happens afterwards help either further define or decline that good thing.

Steve picked the best possible person to take up the mantle after his passing but it is a huge pair of shoes to fill. Not a lot of people would dare to pick perfection first, profit second. Most companies care about being first...throwing it out and perfecting it as it goes...but then they get easily distracted by the next big thing, so they never end up perfecting anything.

Steve was more about just perfection though (which is something I admired very much). He understood people in a way most don't. Not to sound horrifically apple fanboy like, but it is true. He didn't give what people said they wanted. He gave people what they didn't even know they wanted.

Apple is a computer/software company. If, like me, you've ever worked in the computer/software industry, you learn to temper your enthusiasm and expectations. ;)

Jobs is/was one guy. It's the rest of the company that produces the goods. And the rest of the company is sitting in cubicles or, worse, open office spaces, not getting enough exercise, getting grumpy, cutting corners, waiting for their paychecks. They're humans in a profession that is not conducive to human happiness because of lack of mobility and the fact that their jobs utilize about 10% of what they are capable of as humans.

Ringtones are a one trick pony
You are not allowed to download them again, and you haven't been able to for years

It's dumb, but this isn't Tim's fault
[doublepost=1477402463][/doublepost]I feel like people are trying to find issues with Apple after Steve has been gone
Steve was perfect? No

And also, Apple customer base has grown exponentially, obviously it's not as easy to keep quality up

I feel like Apple is going downhill (quality vise) after loss of Steve. Here is why I think this way:

This is a perspective and many will agree. Apple does not take chances any longer, which may be good but it takes Apple off the bleeding edge. The MAC line has fallen to the wayside which is very bad, apple computer sales were, for the first time, keeping pace with HP and the others. The last three years they stopped dead in their path.

I have owned the iPhone since day 1 and every year. The releases have gotten better. There will always be a percentage that fails during upgrade in iOS and Android. With software there are literally millions of variables. Your expectation may be too high. Apple does have many easy to follow documents on the web in the case of disaster and the genius bar has amazing support. Far better than android where you are at the mercy of the carrier or you ship your phone out and do without until repaired. You will not get better service than Apple.

- Ringtones. If you buy a new phone and set it up as new (I do not like the idea of restoring back-ups of old phones to the new ones) - every bloody time there would be an issue with ringtones. For years now. You paid for ringtones, but you can't just re-download them - WTF, Apple? How many years would it take for you to fix this glitch?! iOS is not broken this is a hardware limitation. This is the nature of miniaturized technology. Do not expect small power components to match a PC/Laptop.

Facetime is not as mature as skype. This is true, skype uses a lower quality due to compression. Under optimal conditions however facetime will have superior quality. Skype can be used on all platforms and facetime is just for apple. NOTE the only phone maker until recent who had baked in face to face calls was Apple. Google just came out with Dou. Try that. It installs on ios and android

- iOS. iOS became a collection of never-ending bugs... my current iOS (10.0.3) has a bug with touchscreen. Either a part of the screen or the entire screen becomes unresponsive to touch. Thank God I figured how to do hard reset (press and hold VolumeUP+VolumeDown+Power). After hard reset it starts to work fine again. Apple, when will you stop using your customers as bug testers?

unresponsive touch is a problem but its hardware not software, don't sit on your phone. If you have this go to Apple Genius, they should replace your phone.

- Innovation. What innovation? I feel like innovation is long dead in Apple.

This is actually not true. They are not on the bleeding edge however their tech usually far surpasses other phones/computers etc. For example the new earbuds,

The ultra-low power Apple W1 chip operates at one-third of the power of traditional wireless chips, enabling AirPods to deliver up to 5 hours of listening time on one charge.

W1 chip they deliver innovative features including high quality sound, great battery life and automatic setup, AirPods can intelligently and seamlessly switch from a call on your iPhone to listening to music on your Apple Watch.

Dual optical sensors and accelerometers in each AirPod that work with the W1 chip to detect when AirPods are in your ear, so they only play when you are ready to listen.

- El Capitan. I have not even used it, because some idiot decided that disc utility should not have RAID functionality. Hey, dear customers, here is new OS for you, which is incapable of doing what you do with your current OS. This was just beyond ridiculous.

My raid has it's own software/hardware presets however if apple did pull support from disk utility that isn't a great idea.

I could have continued, but I am afraid my post already has grown out of proportions... So what do you think, am I totally over-reacting or not?

You have some valid points but a few I think are not completely fair.[/QUOTE]

It wasn't all roses with SJ either. We might all still be working away on 3.5 or 4" iPhones only if he was still around.
While I agree Steve wasn't a god as people want to call him now, although I think Steve would've definitely moved on

And yet he was replaced
No he wasn't. TC became CEO but he is no visionary; just a nut & bolts guy. Apple is a 1 trick (iPhone) pony. As the smartphone market matures and growth slows Apple needs to innovate. This is coming from somebody who has been using Apple products since the original Mac (I still have it along with Apple's first laptop). Today's earnings release will prove the point.

Who still uses RAID when we have had SSDs that aren't that expensive that blow it out of the water?

And also, Apple customer base has grown exponentially, obviously it's not as easy to keep quality up

When one customer is not happy or content with one particular issue with an Apple device, and they let the world know why Apple has gone down in quality and has issues with hardware. All because of one issue, they throw their grudges at whoever they can at Apple. Because the customer is always right. When in fact, that's not the case at all. Nothing is perfect and neither is Apple. Although my experiences with all my devices from Apple, have been stellar.

It has only been the last 3 years that I have switched over to Apple and before that I was a PC person for 30+ years. In my opinion Apple really never has been "innovative" when it comes to their products. What they do good at is design, making things work and ease of use. I remember when the iPad was first coming out, people were going gaga over it like it was better than slice toast. Apple wasn't the first company to come out with a table, but they were the first ones to get the public to buy them in mass quantities. As for the OP not wanting to update, I remember all those years as a PC guy where people were moaning and groaning about updates or a particular OS. I never had any problems with anyone of them, including Vista. Sure I ran into snags here and there, but nothing I couldn't correct over a short period of time (usually). Just my .05 cents (it would had been .02 cents but inflation cost it to rise). :D

Sorry to hear you have so many frustrations with the Apple company. I hope you find either a good alternative or that you get a product that solves this for you.

I recognize some of the things you vent about, but I certainly can't keep up with the list.

Best of luck

Apple is doomed. Has been for many years. They better spend that $240B quick before it disappears.

How many of you will sign up for the Apple Credit Card when Apple Financial Services opens a bank?

You aren't overreacting at all!

You should just cut bait and get an Android. You'll live a fuller life. You don't deserve this aggravation.
