It's not considered user replaceable (the MB one is) so I'd say yes: it would be voided.
Your opinion is welcome, but I'd prefer a definite answer since it is my intention to upgrade my drive when a 200GB 7200RPM model becomes available.

As would I if I had bought AppleCare and was going to do this. But then I'd call AppleCare and ask them instead of hoping that someone else would do it for me...
Macbook Pro harddrive is NOT user replaceable and disassembling your computer to replace the harddrive will void your applecare warranty.
In regards to the MBP, if you very carefully open it up, switch the hard drive and make sure to put the old one back whenever you speak to Apple or send it in for warranty repair then you should be ok. You run the risk of damaging something in the process but that's up to you. If you really want a hard drive upgrade and really don't want to lose your warranty and don't want to risk anything then you'd have to get a certified Apple tech to do it for you but that will cost you as much as the new hard drive itself.

Simply opening does not void the warranty. There is no way for Apple to know, as far as I know there are no stickers or anything that can flag Apple as to whether or not it was opened.
Now, if you break something and it is pretty obvious it was opened, yes your warranty is now voided.

Long time user. You can learn a lot by just reading around here, as I'm sure he has.
The point is that you can replace the HD yourself and it won't void the warranty. You can NOT replace the HD yourself in a MBP.

Yeah, if it is installed by an Authorized Apple Service Center then it won't void your warranty.
You cannot buy the hard disk yourself, but through Apple. Their drives have a special Apple logo on the label.
I don't think it has to be an Apple branded drive, as long as it is installed by an Apple tech it should be okay. The warranty is then done through the manufacturer just not Apple, for the drive, but it doesn't void any other parts of the machine either.
I could be wrong..but I don't believe I am....Otherwise many people have voided many warranties...which isn't the case.
