I noticed on the Apple Education Store that there is no mention of being able to extend AC+ after 2 years. Anyone kow if this is possible?
The easiest way is, rather than buying the 2yr AppleCare+ plan upfront, buy it monthly. Then it never ends until you cancel it. It ends up costing a little bit more when you subscribe monthly (eg. for iPhones, $9.99/month = $240/2 years, when paying upfront for 2 yrs is $200), but I personally kind of like that you have the option to cancel it early if you end up feeling you don't need it anymore.

That being said, I don't think you can get the Education discount on a monthly plan, vs buying it upfront.

Anyways, I believe you can call the AppleCare team as your 2yr AppleCare+ plan is expiring (eg. a month or two before), and can switch it to extend on a monthly plan. But I've personally never done it before, so perhaps others who have can speak confidently on the process.

I’ve had other devices and I’ve always been offered to extend AppleCare even when I paid up front. I don’t see EDU being different. I’ve bought 2 macs through the EDU store in the past year so I’d be able to give you a better answer in a year or so.

Is it deceptive? Hell yeah. I just replaced my iPad and got a $100 gift card plus got charged for it. The excuse is that you could return the product and benefit from the gift card, which is a little shifty IMHO. But you still get a discount on the price on top of the gift card being edu plus if you use Apple Pay you get a years deferred financing. I mostly use it for that reason.. I could pay cash. Apple refund that gift card? NFW.

Yeah, deceptive article. Nowhere in there does it say the reason Apple (and Target, Walmart, or any other retailer that gives gift card promotions) does it is because before this policy was instituted, past scammers would return the item (for full price) and keep the gift card (or use the gift card before returning the item).

The fact that Apple did a one-off refund for the gift card for this person, basically means that customer "crystallized" the gift card into cash, without having to actually buy anything. I could see why Apple would just do it to get rid of the headache. For me, if I'm not going to actually buy something with the GC, I have enough on-going Apple Services (iCloud+ storage, AppleCare+ monthly) that I could easily use $100 or $150 without having to buy anything new in a couple months.

The customer was wrong though. From the article... “They said, ‘We’ll give you $100 off.’ Great. ‘And we’ll give you a $100 gift card also.’ Nice,” the professor recalls.

The promotion really is, "You get $100 off by way of getting a $100 gift card." Is it possible the salesperson didn't say it clearly? Maybe. Did she just misunderstand the promotion? Maybe.

If I'll agree with anything, it's that this policy (which again, I understand why Apple / Target / Walmart does it this way) is confusing for the customer. And sales people should be super clear of how it works and why they're getting charged the way they are. Otherwise, people just see them getting charged for the Gift Card, when they thought they were "getting it for free", and react accordingly.

Great time to get into the Apple ecosystem or update your equipment. Promo ends towards end of September

Just out of curiosity, now this Student offer has ended

Is there a way to purchase iPad 2 year plan for £119 separate on its own?

I only have 4 days left on my iPad Pro M4, and going through the Education Store I can’t find to buy for this price?

Going through the normal channel on my iPad, it wants to charge me full price of £150
