I wasn't aware that you got to decide what was groundbreaking or not. For me touch ID is just as important as anything you mentioned there. I couldn't care less if it's considered groundbreaking or not.

That put Wifi and bluetooth in their iPads was important, too but I wouldn't call that an innovation either.
Touch ID was nothing new and didn't change the way people use their devices.
At least the mouse and multi-touch certainly did.

Not long after that post, I listened to the whole thing. Not my undivided attention, but enough to thoroughly enjoy the video.

This morning I stumbled across Steve Wozniak says 'there were a lot of things wrong' with 'Jobs' movie | The Verge (2013-08-17).

To anyone who read that brief article in The Verge: please take time to also watch the fifteen-minute video on YouTube.

(The 'feel' of what's in the video is lacking from the written article, and that's not only due to brevity. I suspect that there's a mis-quote, and so on.)

If Steve Wozniak was still at Apple, Apple would be bankrupt. Steve Wozniak doesn't get how to sell computers, is to much of a technogeek, and in the end an idealist.

Woz today if he was in any way connected to Apple would bankrupt the company and he'd be even worse than the Pepsi guy. We're talking about a guy who believes in sunshine and rainbows and giving away things for free.

The only reason Woz was there in the first place is because Jobs needed someone who could build the Apple product.

The only reason Woz was there in the first place is because Jobs needed someone who could build the Apple product.

Woz invented the apple products it was a collaborative effort and most of the engineering was done by Woz.It was his ideas and genius that led to the apple 1. It was Steve's genius that led to the Apple 2 where he sold a computer that was not in kit form.

Don't diminish the overall impact that the Woz had on Apple. If there was no Woz, there would be no Apple.

In the past Woz has said Apple should make an Android phone.

He also suggested the "almost treasonous" idea of partnering with a Chinese manufacturer to build a "totally different" smartphone than the iPhone and allowing it be sold as under the Apple brand, with Apple "inspecting it to make sure it's a quality product."

Thank god he's not making any decisions at Apple.

• a collection of snippets of information, from individuals, can't paint as realistic a picture as a single substantial contribution from one well-informed, well-connected individual.

So, for example, I'd pay special attention to a Steve Wozniak description of cultures at Apple during his time there, provided that description is not rushed. Not exclusive attention, but someone like him would have had a broad overview of things at certain levels.

For Apple in more recent years (let's say, post-Steve Jobs): I can't imagine who would both (a) have that breadth of knowledge of cultures at any level within the company and (b) be willing (or permitted) to speak about those cultures.

We'll have to agree to disagree then as I don't think what he would offer is what Apple needs. If Tim Cook thought Woz would be of benefit to Apple I'm sure he would have called on his services by now.
