Someone asked about "books" appearing in the left pane of itunes instead of "audiobooks".

My itunes (latest version" said "audiobooks" this morning. I downloaded the new app for ipad (even though I'm not getting one right away) and now it says "books" instead of "audiobooks". I guess just downloading the app makes that change. Clicking on it shows the same content in the larger itunes window as before.

I thought iBooks didn't have highlighting capabilities, but I guess it does. According to a faq at macworld.com:

Can you highlight text in iBooks? This would be essential for college books.

Yes, you can. In fact, not only can you highlight text (by selecting it and then choosing Highlight from the pop-up menu), you can even choose from five different colors (yellow, green, blue, pink, and purple). You can also quickly view all highlights (and jump to them) from the same screen that hosts the book’s table of contents.

Good find! :D

Thanks!

iPad iBook

Apple start to annoy me with their stupid policy , why we can't buy Numbers, Pages & Ibook when we are not in US itunes Store

i start to be worry if i can connect my iPad to my iTunes store (Singapore) even i am not in US

I would say if you are not in the market for an ipad right away, ereader or kindle software for Mac is the way to go. You can read the books on the computer. And if you do get an ipad, both kindle and ereader will have apps for the ipad. With ibooks you can only use the ipad. And on the ipad, a book is a book. Probably doesn't matter which app you are using to view it. Although having everything tied together with itunes to sync is handy.

I wasn't sure if an iPad-native Kindle app was going to be made available, but I heard that the iPad optimized version was posted just now:

http://itunes.apple.com/us/app/kindle/id302584613?mt=8

Edit: I didn't see the story on the front page of this site.

Maybe because the iPad won't be released internationally until later?

oooo SNAP! Apple is bringing iBooks to the iPhone OS 4.0...

U Fail!

I think that's the core problem with people making strong declarations of what Apple will and won't do. The times I've seen it backfire like this, usually they end up with their foot in their mouths and don't talk about it.

That, and I don't think I've seen a lot of complaints from anyone about the current bookreader apps on the iPhone, Luke Redpath's comment is the only one I can remember. A larger screen would certainly make reading better, but having it for a small screen is usually a lot better than nothing.
